If you are in your second or third year of study at the university studying engineering, engineering science, mathematics, statistics or related qualifications then we want you to apply for an internship with Stantec. This is the perfect opportunity to work across an exciting and broad range of projects!

Scope of work

The Wellington water team are involved in a wide variety of drinking water, wastewater and stormwater projects around the region. This ranges from city-wide planning of networks for the long-term future to assisting with specific studies, designs and construction of water infrastructure: culverts, pump stations, reservoirs and everything in-between.

Potential tasks may include: + Develop models of existing and proposed infrastructure. + Simulating models to test hydraulics of pipe networks and open channels. + Generation of GIS maps and outputs to highlight different areas of concerns or hazards. + Provide insights into design of new infrastructure . + Hydrological predictions, estimating rainfall and flows for existing and future climate conditions. + Working with large datasets and generating useful insight using time series and spatial data. + Automating procedures and practices, developing tools. + Using multiple large computers for large scale processing. + Attending client meetings to translate real-world problems into projects, tasks and programmes. + Assisting project management at all project stages. + Attending workshops, training, and career development opportunities. + Writing risk assessments, reports, memos, and other project management documentation. + Social club and Developing Professionals Group activities.

Who can apply

To be eligible to apply you must:

  • Be in your second or third year of study

  • Preferably have a full clean current driving licence

  • Able to commence work from mid-November 2024 to mid-February 2025 (Flexible)
