Wind power and Solar PV increasingly contribute non-dispatchable electricity which hydroelectric power plants and storage firm up to match consumer and grid requirements. Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Mechanical Discipline Lead – Hydropower & Dams, the HYDROPOWER ANALYST - MECHANICAL performs insightful analysis across the various equipment involved in hydropower plants for gates, valves, penstocks, turbines, governors, the mechanical components of the generator and balance of plant. They are discipline oriented generalists who know to translate their analyses into quantitative, evidence-based, relevant results and insights. They work collaboratively with leaders in the respective technologies to produce internal and client project deliverables.

Our hydro team is seeking a colleague who enjoys human interaction, can understand client needs and matches them with appropriate solutions. We believe that these skills can most likely be found in a mechanical engineer (or analyst with the technical training to become a licensed engineer in Canada) with strong understanding of engineering applications and tools for hydroelectrical facilities.

    • Be able to scale administrative process to size and type of application and identify potential for improvements

    • Communicate comfortably with clients across their hierarchy from boardroom to shop floor

  • Promote Brand

    • Know and relate with relevant industry associations, academic institutions and training programs
    • Write, coordinate or present publications and conference presentations
    • Know Stantec’s technology differentiators and be able to explain client benefits

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Good communication skills in English

  • Post-graduate degree or area of specialization would be an asset.

  • Experience in data analytics or machine learning would be an asset

  • Bilingual in French & English and other foreign languages would be an asset

  • Valid Canadian driver license

  • Located in Ontario (Hamilton or Waterloo preferred)

Education and Experience

  • Mechanical Engineering or Applied Science Degree or Certificate from an accredited University or College in Canada or abroad

  • Entered the EIT program in at least one Canadian Province (P.Eng.)
