Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Project Manager to join our Mining team in the Southwest USA, based out of one of our offices in Salt Lake City, UT; Chandler, AZ; or Denver, CO. As a Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to pursue, plan, and deliver mining and/or mine infrastructure projects for a diverse client base located around the globe. You will play a key role in promoting project advancement from concept-level studies through to complete execution and handover, depending on your skillsets and experience.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, lead and control the integration of all work packages / areas and disciplines within the project efficiently and effectively.

  • Oversee the execution of the work, while ensuring adherence to Stantec’s Project Management Framework and the management of changes in scope, risk, schedule, and/or budget throughout the project, from the proposal stage to completion of the work.

  • Regularly interface with the client regarding project status updates and expectations.

  • Leadership of a multi-disciplinary team, including hands-on work across the various project functions as needed to lead by example.

  • Ensure that all designs incorporate Stantec’s philosophy in the pursuit of Zero Harm during the construction and/or operations of our client’s projects.

  • Account and stakeholder management maximizing business opportunities within client accounts.

  • Act as a peer and quality reviewer on client deliverables.

  • Develop and review project budgets and estimates.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • High degree of leadership, communication, planning, teamwork, decision-making, judgment, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proven understanding of project studies and/or detailed engineering requirements in support of advancing mining projects.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Experience managing key interfaces with procurement, construction management, and/or operations/maintenance activities.

  • Understanding of projects controls systems, and cost control practices.

  • Leadership of project teams from various disciplines. Proven engineering expertise and competency in Mining projects and associated facilities.

  • Familiarity with US or global mining jurisdictions and their various regulations.

  • Ability to perform in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

  • Willingness to travel to client offices/sites and other Stantec offices as required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Engineering from an accredited university.

  • Professional Engineering license (or the ability to obtain a license) is preferred.

  • Eight years of project management experience, with at least three years successfully leading large and complex studies or design projects.

  • Experience in mining and or heavy industry projects is advantageous.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
