Stantec's Thousand Oaks, California Environmental Assessment, Remediation, and Redevelopment team is looking for a Senior Level Engineer, Geologist or Scientist to lead a team of professionals in the environmental aspects of redevelopment of large scale commercial projects in various sectors.
Your Key Responsibilities
Manage multiple projects as an Owner’s Representative. Managing the approved scope, budget and schedule are of utmost importance.
Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business.
Communicate daily with the client and project team.
Capitalize on existing client relationships to expand Stantec’s profile and market share in the regional market (through a combination of excellence in technical delivery and business development).
Direct and develop complex site investigation, remediation, and construction projects with multi-person project teams. Oversee multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
Provide leadership in managing staff performance, recruiting and retention, and mentoring personnel for overall success of practice team.
Develop a working understanding of Stantec’s other consulting practice areas and actively support cross-selling other services to existing clients.
Develop, track, update, forecast and modify the project schedule and budget throughout all phases of the project.
Review and track all contracts, invoices, and payments to all contractors, consultants, and equipment vendors.
Prepare monthly reports to owner.
Assist in plan reviews and inspections.
Understand and assist in the negotiation of contracts of all parties to the project.
Review and approve all invoices and change orders associated with the project.
Evaluate, advise on and assist in resolving disputes and claims.
Reports to Senior Project Manager, Project Director or Executive.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Experience in Project Management and Owner’s Representative role in the environmental aspects of site assessment and remedial projects
Ability to multitask project management and business development
Willing and able to travel
Excellent client relationship and communication skills
Team player with experience building, leading, and managing a team of Project Managers and Support Staff
Ability and experience in preparing comprehensive budget expenditures, overall project schedules, and in planning and managing revenue and expenses for a business unit
Proven experience for large programs/contracts and client relationships supported by repeat business
Proven track record of delivering revenue/sales a plus
Excellent writing, strategic thinking, and “people” skills
Advanced knowledge of the local regulatory climate, with proven negotiation skills with state and local regulators
Recognized technical expertise by the marketplace
Education and Experience
BS and/or MS in Engineering, Geology, Science, or related discipline. Professional registration a plus.
7-8 years of relevant site investigation/remediation experience, including environmental consulting experience.
Experience managing at least five consulting projects with minimum consulting fees of $250K.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
