We are seeking an enthusiastic environmental technician or biologist to work on Stantec’s projects in the Kitimat-Terrace-Prince Rupert area and possibly throughout British Columbia. As a member of our Environmental Services team, you will work out of Stantec’s Terrace office and be supported by our local staff and a province-wide team of experts. The successful candidate will be mentored by both our Terrace-based staff and project-specific discipline leads to help you develop field, data management, analytical and technical writing skills.
Your Key Responsibilities
The role will primarily involve supporting field programs, including:
Wetland and vegetation assessments
Freshwater fisheries assessments
Contaminated sites investigations
Follow established safe work practices at all times
Support field programs for freshwater and marine fisheries, water quality, vegetation ecology, wildlife, archaeology, hydrology, and groundwater studies
Complete quality and completeness checks on field data
Contribute to the preparation of technical reports
Travel within British Columbia and Alberta may be required
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Enthusiasm and willingness to learn new skills
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
Physically fit and able to work outdoors in inclement weather
Willing to occasionally work in remote locations for up to 14 days at a time
Good organization and communication skills
Education and Experience
Diploma or certificate program in an environmental science-related field
Class 5 Drivers license
The following training certificates would be considered an asset: Electrofishing; Occupational First Aid Level 1; UTV training; Pleasure Craft Operator Card
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods. Fieldwork may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
