Stantec Project Controls Specialist in Sudbury, Ontario

Your Opportunity

As a qualified project controls professional at Stantec, you will apply skills in the areas of schedule, cost controls, communications, and problem solving in a fast-paced, professional, design and construction environment. 70% of this role will focus on planning/scheduling, 30% will focus on cost control. Your role will involve being seconded to one of our client sites. The location may vary and be throughout Canada.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Create, revise, update, report on and control the project resource loaded schedules.

  • Interface with management, client representatives, and others to establish baselines and provide required reporting and analysis with variance explanation.

  • Responsible for accurate and timely project management reports which include; budget, progress, productivity, manpower, schedule and man-hours.

  • Execute proper controls to proactively support, monitor, and communicate budget, actual status, and forecast costs, labor hours, and quantities for projects.

  • Suggests methods to improve project plan and mitigate schedule slippage. Identifies areas of concerns and makes recommendations for corrective actions.

  • Actively pursue the identification and definition of change.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Demonstrable skills in the management of project time and cost.

  • General understanding of all phases of project controls.

  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.

  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to work with others to achieve group results.

  • Thorough understanding of project controls concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.

  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.

  • Proficient in relevant software programs including Microsoft (MS) Office Suite and Oracle Primavera

  • Travel to client site (secondment) required.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering and Business Management or related field. Minimum of 5 years of Mining experience preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
