Your Opportunity

Our Stoney Creek office is currently seeking a Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering Lead. This role is to develop large municipal transportation planning projects, build and maintain strong client relationships and provide senior level mentorship to transportation staff in our local, as well as, other Stantec offices. It is expected that the Senior Project Manager supports business development and the delivery of proposals while maintaining relationships with clients.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of a municipal sector business plan for the region

  • Growth of the municipal sector to be consistent with regional organic growth targets

  • Business development, including active account management and proposal preparation

  • Manages transportation projects from conception to delivery, including bringing in new clients and managing existing client relationships

  • Lead and be actively engaged with prospective client’s relationship building and maintenance

  • Performs on technically complex projects and acts as a technical resource by providing guidance to other team members

  • Identifies, recruits and mentors’ staff to establish a long-term and sustainable municipal sector practice

  • Provides senior level project support to the Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering groups

  • Supports other Stantec business lines such as Community Development, Architecture, etc. as required

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Wide-ranging experience with provincial and municipal transportation projects

  • Efficient project management of multiple concurrent projects

  • Understands client expectations, budgeting, proposal writing, invoicing and collecting accounts receivable

  • Business development skills including experience building and maintaining productive relationships with a client base

  • Understands client expectations, budgeting, proposal writing and invoicing

  • Able to cope with demanding schedule and lead / co-ordinate a multi-disciplinary team

  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule

  • Possess extremely excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and interpersonal skills

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Civil Engineering

  • Professional Engineer

  • Minimum of twenty (20) years of progressive engineering and project management experience (minimum of 15 years of post-licensure experience)

  • Transportation Project experience preferred
