About the role

Are you an experienced Project Manager looking for the next step in their Career? The NSW Buildings Business Unit are seeking a Project Management Lead (PML) to help grow the commercial acumen and delivery capabilities of Project Managers (PMs) within the Buildings team to successfully deliver projects for clients and contribute to the long-term profitability of the Business.

Based in our St Leonards office, you will support the Project Management Commercial Leader (PMCL) in management and governance of an allocated portfolio of projects and project managers. This will include assisting to maintain compliance with the Project Management Framework (PMF) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls, regularly monitoring and reporting on the commercial, quality and risk position of all projects in their assigned area. You will also work directly with the PMs to achieve effective and timely solutions.

We are seeking candidates with at least 7 years hands-on experience delivering projects for consulting firms and/or clients in the role of Project Manager. This is a leadership position where the successful candidate will lead and teach our Project Management cohort based on their own learned experiences. The PML will also be expected to work as a Project Manager within our Buildings team, delivering projects of their own for multi-disciplinary buildings projects in a variety of sectors which may include Commercial, Health, Defence, Data Centers, and Social Infrastructure.

Salary range: $150-170k Total Renumeration Package

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing project delivery within Buildings to ensure projects are delivered in line with the Stantec PM Framework to meet client requirements,

  • Supporting Campaign and Proposal staff to identify project opportunities and prepare proposal material with a focus on Stantec's Project Management Framework (PMF) practices, ensuring client requirements, scope/deliverables, risk, technical and commercial needs are achievable.

  • Conducting regular project review meetings with project managers and project controls personnel to monitor project-level performance, budget, schedule, risk, and quality management in support of program or BC-level reporting and management.

  • Conducting monthly project management review process including PM completion of estimate to complete, estimate at completion (EAC), and revenue recognition, and approval of EACs in accordance with Stantec's Sarbanes-Oxley compliance program.

  • Supporting the Buildings leaders in review and approval of proposal and project scopes, schedules, budgets; review and approve project/ execution plans-ensuring plans are fit-for-purpose and BC approvals are in place.

  • Supporting the Buildings leaders in the project-centric components of day-to-day operation of the business centre or region, including project delivery performance, go/no-go decisions, pricing strategies, risk management, change management, forecasting and budgeting, and performance reporting within your assigned area.

To be successful for this role you'll need:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or comparable technical, business or professional degree with a minimum of 7 year’s relevant experience

  • Recent experience managing projects, including the development of scope, schedule and budget and the subsequent monitoring of cost and schedule.

  • Strong understanding of scheduling concepts and program.

  • PMP certification (or ability to obtain PMP within 12 months) or equivalent.

  • Conflict management and negotiation skills to resolve contractual disputes.

  • Initiative to identify and flag opportunities and risks to achieve business objectives.

  • Strong soft skills enabling you to work and communicate with Project Managers, as well as leveraging the influence of Business Leads, Group Leads and Team Leads to achieve good project outcomes.
