Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking dynamic and creative candidates to join our US West Team as a project engineer or scientist. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who will perform most of their tasks at a mine reclamation project near Spokane, WA. The candidate will provide field engineering, quality control, and surveying as part of a skilled and qualified team.

This position will require a passionate, creative and organized individual who is driven to taking on and completing challenges associated with mining projects. This position interacts throughout the organization internally and externally with clients and members of business and professional organizations.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Following safe work practices and adhering to company and client guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.

  • Contribute to an innovative and collaborative work environment where creativity is valued and encouraged.

  • Interact with client management, construction contractors, engineering, and field staff to plan and execute construction activities.

  • Developing and implementing design solutions, as-built construction verification, and other field engineering activities utilizing AutoCAD Civil3D software.

  • Preparing technical memoranda and detailed reports pertaining to field investigations, design studies and construction activities.

  • Support construction activities including interpreting and communicating requirements of work plans and specifications, use of survey grade GPS equipment to support construction, and preparing reports and submittals documenting conformance with project specifications.

  • Travel will be required for investigation, remediation, and construction projects throughout the Intermountain West. These field efforts in some cases will continue over multiple years and individual assignments may be several months in length (e.g., over the construction season).

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong technical writing skills, organizational skills, technical leadership abilities, oral communication skills, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in the office and in the field at remote sites.

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training with current refresher is preferred or the ability to obtain after employment.

  • FAA Section 107 UAS remote pilot certificate preferred

  • Valid driver’s license

Education and Experience

  • 0-4 years of experience working on civil, mining, or environmental engineering projects, focusing on detailed design, site investigation, construction, and technical communication.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mining or Environmental Engineering

  • Engineering in Training Certification preferred or the ability to obtain after employment.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • $72,200 - $104,700 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in WA

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.

  • Washington state employees are eligible to accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked except for Seattle employees who accrue sick leave in accordance with the city’s paid sick leave law.

The benefits information listed above may not apply to union positions because benefits for such positions are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreements.
