Stantec’s Sarasota Florida office is looking for an experienced and versatile Engineer with project management, and design experience capable of working multiple projects, growing, and coaching junior engineers, supporting the growth of Stantec within Florida through marketing and technical support to the Florida Water Regional Group.

This is an opportunity for a motivated individual to serve as a technical lead on local and regional projects and support critical client delivery tasks throughout Florida and Stantec’s Gulf Region.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Support the technical delivery of multiple projects, primarily in the municipal water, wastewater, and utility markets in Southwest Florida and surrounding areas.

  • Technical delivery of both large and small capital projects of high complexity and/or of critical importance to clients.

  • Serve as Engineer-of-Record.

  • Supervise the work of engineers and other project staff, including setting priorities for their scope of work, task budget and schedule deliverables for completing the work in collaboration with the Project Manager(s).

  • Manage or assist Project Manager and/or Project Technical Lead with managing and monitoring financial performance of project budgets.

  • Review and conduct alternative analyses to support business case evaluations for making project decisions.

  • Evaluate, select, specify civil and mechanical engineered systems or products for projects.

  • Manage and lead others while working on projects and developing designs; assigns, reviews and evaluates work for technical accuracy and completeness; advise on technical problem and solutions.

  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, clients, contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors.

  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on projects of peers.

  • Serve as the Project's point of contact with clients, agencies, and others to obtain and determine project requirements and approvals.

  • Management of existing client relationships and development of new client relationships.

  • Remain current on regulatory policy and rule changes and establish working relationships with regulatory officials.

  • Engage in leadership of professional organizations that align with professional expertise.

  • Develop project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects, and support marketing and business development professionals in positioning for potential projects, writing technical portions of proposals, participating in client interviews, and supporting negotiations for project contracts.

  • Assist and/or lead the development of proposals and contract negotiations.

Qualifications

Leadership:

  • Skilled at inspiring, motivating and holding team accountable for delivery for innovative design solutions.

Technical Expertise:

  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budgets and schedules.

  • Understand, interpret, and communicate client expectations to project delivery team.

  • Demonstrated experience in project scoping and budgeting

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution.

  • Master of Science in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution is a plus.

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in municipal water, wastewater, and utility design projects.

  • Florida Professional Engineering (PE) license.

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
