The role involves project management, client management, project delivery and business development les experience in the evaluation, planning, design and construction administration of water, wastewater, and recycled water infrastructure projects including proposal, scope and fee development, alignment studies, alternatives analysis, treatment plant design, pump station and pipeline design. Your Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute work involving conventional types of civil and utility engineering principles and other related activities for new and existing water, recycled water, wastewater, conveyance, treatment, and civil/site projects

  • Develop and prepare technical memorandums / reports, planning studies, specifications, detailed design drawings, and construction submittal reviews calculations, models and other technical deliverables for civil/utility, conveyance, treatment, and infrastructure related projects

  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to make adaptations and modifications to projects.

  • Lead project teams in planning and/or designing a major engineering project and coordinate special planning, economic, and engineering studies

  • Direct the work of, communicate effectively and coordinate with, project teams including other disciplines (drafters, designers and other engineers)

  • Delegate and oversee the work of subordinate technical staff and engineers

  • Provide consultation in specialized areas (wastewater/water conveyance and civil design), make decisions and solve problems

  • Prepare and make presentations to clients and for professional meetings

  • Assist with business development pursuits, including preparation of proposals and interviews.

  • Position may require local travel and off-site field visits

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

A well-developed understanding of design concepts relevant to water infrastructure design that incorporate the following:

  • Civil Design elements associated with process piping systems, linear infrastructure, yard piping, pumping stations, and conveyance systems.

  • Civil site development including grading and mapping.

  • Mechanical design elements pertaining to pumping facilities, treatment facilities and linear infrastructure.

  • Architectural design elements and the ability to coordinate with Project Architects.

  • Excellent writing skills and experience in preparing technical memorandums / reports and proposals.

  • Experience with the planning, design, and construction support of water and wastewater infrastructure

  • Experience with planning and designing water and wastewater pipelines and pipeline rehabilitation

  • Experience with wastewater pump station and potable or recycled water pump station design

  • Strong project management and/or design management skills

  • Ability to proactively communicate and resolve potential issues with the project team and support the development of solutions using sound judgment, creativity, and innovation.

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to take initiative and ownership of task scope, schedule, and budget.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for working in diverse team environments, including working in remote/virtual settings.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience

  • B.S. degree in related engineering field (Civil, Environmental etc.), M.S. preferred

  • 8-15 years of progressively increasing responsibility required

  • Professional Engineer registration (California preferred), and ability to acquire PE in other states

This position is in a typical office environment working with computers at a desk for long periods of time. Remote/virtual work experience desirable; onboarding may occur in a remote environment, depending on local Stantec office conditions.

Salary Range(s):

  • CA Other Areas $108,000 - CA Other Areas $162,000 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
