Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Survey group in Rochester, NY is seeking a Survey/Transportation Intern. The ideal candidate will have a blending of work-related experience specifically to civil engineering and survey projects with an understanding of survey/geomatics practices. Knowledge of the technical requirements of surveying is optimum and candidates with a strong understanding of data processing are strongly encouraged to apply. The ability to work in a technology driven profession and provide outstanding customer service is desired.

Your Key Responsibilities

Duties will include office work and occasional field work associated with all facets of surveying including ALTA/NSPS surveys, boundary surveys, topographic mapping, control surveying and laser scanning. Duties may also include transportation design support. Training will be provided for all candidates.

• Analyzing and processing all types of survey field data, GPS, 3D laser scanning, total station.

• Processing and preparing survey field data for engineering construction projects.

• Contributing to improving practices and procedures of new technology.

• Working in a team environment on multi discipline and diverse sector projects.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Strong mathematical skills required.

• Good communication abilities required.

• Solid computer skills and basic understanding of Microsoft office applications.

• Experience with field survey equipment is a plus.

• Experience with CAD and survey software preferred. Candidate may need to work in Civil3D and/or the MicroStation CAD platform.

• Strong attention to detail for Quality Control

• Highly assertive and work well under pressure

• Can work well as part of a larger team

• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Education and Experience

• Working toward or holding a degree in Geomatics or Civil Engineering

• Prior internship/Co-op experience preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

• $21.91 Per Hour - $32.21 Per Hour Min/Max Pay Range(s) for postings located in NYC/NY

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
