The Geospatial Technology Program Group within the Innovation Office's Digital Technology and Innovation team has a career opening for an individual to perform various duties related to research & development, new product research & testing and incubation of geospatial ideas. The successful candidate will become a member of the Innovation Office and will be accessible to project teams to support project work as needed. Our digital experts conduct research and development to keep our teams—and your projects—ahead of the technological curve. They implement established technologies and find emerging solutions for all business lines, bridging existing knowledge domains and facilitating the integration of powerful tools and methods. Our goal is to make projects more efficient and help provide higher-quality results to your clients.
Your Key Responsibilities
Perform new product research and application to business line use
Implement and manage ArcGIS Enterprise
Develop storymaps for projects, marketing & business development
Research and deploy ArcGIS Integration with O365
Provide Esri and AutoDesk integration support
Integration with Stantec applications (ORACLE, Pipeline, Marketing maps)
Collaborate with the Digital Solutions team within the Innovation office
Integration with Geospatial solutions within the Azure Dev ops environment
Simple geospatial app development
Assist staff with data management, trouble shooting, point cloud data storage and processing
Provide assistance in the management of Stantec's drone program
Provide documentation and guidance on GNSS Correction services
Assist in the development of documentation of Geospatial standards, best practices and hardware/software standards in use across the organization
Assist with initiatives identified by the GIS Community of Practice or other CoP's as necessary
Provide oversight and guidance on centralized data management, governance, support
Incubate geospatial ideas
Consult on geospatial digital solutions
POSITION CAN BE LOCATED ANYWHERE IN CANADA, USA OR OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly interested in the application of new geospatial technologies and a critical thinker.
In addition, the successful candidate will have extensive experience with:
Esri’s suite of GIS software
GIS data sources, cartography, and geographic concepts
Data management, governance
Python scripting and automated techniques for processing data
Online cloud-based GIS (e.g. ArcGIS Online) for data collection, manipulation, sharing, and presentation
Defining workflow processes and leading implementation teams
Additional capabilities include :
Applying critical thinking skills to develop innovative solutions
Ability to direct and execute highly complex or specialized projects
Attention to detail
Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, and clients, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
Ability to anticipate and identify client needs and synthesize them into concepts and solutions
Presenting to external audiences
Knowledge of Project Management principles
Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, and manage time and competing priorities
Education and Experience
A Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geology, Geography, Geomatics, Engineering, or a related field and 5-10 years of GIS experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Master’s degree and GISP preferred.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
