Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Transportation group has an immediate need for a motivated, team focused Traffic Engineer. You will have the opportunity to be part of a team working on some of the most challenging and diverse transportation infrastructure projects in the region including intersections, roadway corridors, roundabouts, and incorporating complete and safe streets principles. You will also have opportunities to work on the development of dedicated bicycle facilities and multi-use paths. The work will range from concept planning/traffic studies through final design and construction, working directly with Stantec’s broad cross-section of technical specialists, including industry leading multimodal transportation planners and established transportation design professionals.

The position may sit in our Mechanicsburg, PA or Pittsburgh, PA office with opportunities for a hybrid work arrangement.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Data collection and analysis and simulation of traffic operations.

  • Working with large data sets using spreadsheet analysis.

  • Preparation of engineering reports and technical studies, including transportation planning, multimodal operations, and traffic safety studies.

  • ITS planning and design, traffic signal design, maintenance and protection of traffic design, signing and pavement marking, illumination, roadway, sidewalk, and ADA ramp planning and design.

  • Preparation of construction cost estimates.

  • Work within Synchro, Sidra Intersection, VISSIM, Microstation, CORSIM, SimTraffic, AutoTurn and HCS.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Proficient with traffic analysis/modeling software, including Micostation, Synchro, SimTraffic and AutoTurn.

  • Basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of civil design/transportation engineering.

  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both office and virtual environments.

  • Ability to work independently while also developing cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience.

  • Prior experience on projects for PennDOT or the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.

  • Engineer in Training Certification required. PE preferred.

Position will primarily work in an office or virtual setting; may require some fieldwork.
