Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking an experienced Integrated Water Management Specialist to join our intern-disciplinary team of public affairs and community water planning professionals, each committed to delivering sound and strategic consulting services to a range of local, regional, state, and federal clients. This position is in and will be supervised from our office in Pasadena, California. Your Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage and apply your experience with some, or all, of the following:

    • Watershed or water resources planning and management
    • Integrated water resources management, stormwater resources planning
    • Environmental justice
    • Community engagement
    • Equitable water infrastructure
    • Water policy
  • Achievement of the California legislated human right to water

  • Join and participate with inter-disciplinary teams on water resources projects throughout California and the western U.S.

  • Conduct community-engaged planning and assessments supporting water supply, sanitation, flood control, and environmental restoration projects.

  • Lead implementation of projects and programs identified by community members that overcome challenges and reinforce strengths, facilitating work of interdisciplinary teams and coordinating with regulatory agencies and project partners to overcome hurdles.

  • Support small drinking water systems with effective governance and management in service to their communities, and in identifying and implementing long-term solutions to drinking water challenges.

  • Develop educational resources with specific learning objectives, instructional materials, and content focused on water and environmental topics, and tailored to various audiences and communities based on their needs, learning styles, and most used language.

  • Lead and contribute to the development of water system education and curricula related to small water system management and operations.

  • Lead preparation of presentations for client exhibits, in-person and online community engagement events, public presentations, and plan documents for online and hard copy publication.

  • Coordinate with community members, clients, project managers, project engineers and staff, regulatory agencies, and subcontractors on project deliverables.

  • Perform project administration including preparing facilitation plans, reports, gathering information, drafting proposals and correspondence, completing progress reports, and conducting project management.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Kind, thoughtful, seasoned collaborator with experience delivering engagement-led approaches to planning and design.

  • Excellent skills in inclusive community engagement using a variety of tools and techniques suited to a variety of communities and audiences; Experience working with Tribes a plus. Spanish fluency a plus.

  • Development of educational materials for community or technical audiences.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the process, tools and techniques of community policy and plan development and implementation.

  • Excellent graphic, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent research and analysis skills with qualitative and quantitative data relevant to community planning and design.

  • Strong interpersonal abilities and an enthusiasm for working in diverse team environments with staff, clients, and stakeholders.

  • Specific work experience or post-graduate academic research/coursework with one or more of the following:

  • Integrated water management / One Water principles

  • Watershed management or watershed planning

  • Environmental policy and governance

  • Supporting community engagement with planning, designing, constructing, and owning/operating water/wastewater infrastructure

  • Environmental justice

  • Must have a good driving record and valid driver’s license.

Education and Experience

  • At least six to ten years of experience supporting communities with engagement, education, and decision-making related to water, natural resources, utilities, or similar.

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental management, water resources planning, city and regional planning/urban planning, environmental science, ecology, natural resources, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • CA Other Areas $103,800 - CA Other Areas $167,100 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
