Your Opportunity

The role of a civil engineer is to work on smaller projects, and/or as a team member of a larger project under the close guidance and supervision of a senior engineer/designer. You should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products for a project. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations, and field work. The smaller projects that a civil engineer may be assigned to will have relatively few complex features.

A civil engineer will assist more senior engineers/designers by performing the routine aspects of civil engineering assignments. May assist in the analysis of proposed projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Hydrologic and Hydraulic analyses using steady state, unsteady state, 1-D and 2D models.

  • Perform GIS analyses to support engineering and technical services.

  • Write documents summarizing work performed.

  • Perform watershed planning studies to achieve flood reduction, water quality and ecological benefits.

  • Provide support to a diverse team of professionals in multiple offices throughout the country.

  • Conduct assignments/projects with a high degree of initiative and independence.

  • Complete tasks on schedule with pride and ownership of your work.

  • Provide expertise to internal and external clients to resolve complex problems and issues.

  • Attend project meetings involving communication to local government officials.

  • Deploy to natural disaster impacted areas if desired.

  • Perform civil design using knowledge of relevant software programs.

  • Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/ designer.

  • Perform field work as directed by a senior engineer/ designer.

  • Perform complex calculations to support analysis and design using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.

  • Assist with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.

  • Assist with collecting data and gathering information to support project decisions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff.

  • Interpret and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices under the direction of a senior engineer/designer.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Highly knowledgeable in hydrologic and hydraulic analysis methodologies.

  • Proficient with hydrologic and hydraulic models especially HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS.

  • Proficient with ESRI ArcGIS software, data analysis including 3D Analyst and Spatial Analyst.

  • Detailed oriented and a work ethic to achieve high quality results.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Experience in water and environmental projects.Basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of civil engineering design.

  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.

  • Understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.

  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, geospatial data and other similar material.

  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and basic, AutoCAD civil 3D.

  • Developing cooperative skills in working efficiently within a team.

  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering from an ABET accredited program with at least 1 year work experience preferred;

or Graduate Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Minimum of 0-1 years of experience. Co-op/Internship experience preferred.

EIT preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
