Stantec Business Development Manager - Geotechnical Services - Ottawa in Ottawa, Ontario

Your Opportunity

Our Ottawa, ON office is seeking a highly connected and enthusiastic Engineer with extensive geotechnical / materials consulting experience to build relationships internally and externally and use your engineering expertise, client relationship and account management experience to grow opportunities within our expanding team and organization.

In this position you will be working in a true partnership with local and national business leaders and will collaborate with the leaders in other groups, including but not limited to Environmental Services, Mining, Power, Oil & Gas, Buildings, Infrastructure to optimize integrated business planning and client management.

Your Key responsibilities

  • Leading growth in revenue for the Geotechnical Practice in the Ottawa region.

  • Monitoring the business environment to determine which clients best meet Stantec’s skill set and provide the appropriate opportunities to meet the financial targets of the region and organization.

  • Identifying potential markets for key services and solutions and developing strategies to enter or further develop Stantec’s presence in those markets

  • In collaboration with others, develop strategic plans to target new clients as well as build on existing relationships. Lead the effort in the development of client relationships in the region and assist outside the region in Eastern Canada through collaboration across geography and business lines.

  • Developing client strategic plans to take advantage of identified strategic growth opportunities.

  • Promoting business collaboration initiatives, working with other Business Lines to ensure a “We are better together” approach is taken with regards to client management and targeted opportunities and projects

  • Providing monthly reporting summaries for the Geotechnical Practice in Eastern Canada.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Exceptionally strong understanding of the Transportation and Infrastructure sectors especially within Ottawa region. In particular, a thorough understanding of the key business and project drivers for developing opportunities.

  • Strong leadership and business development skills, including significant experience building and maintaining productive relationships with a client base within a client account management framework. Such experience within a consulting organization is considered a strong asset.

  • Previous success in development and executing customer and market segment strategic plans is required.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience delivering high quality presentations.

  • The ability and willingness to travel as needed.

Education and Experience

Post-graduate degree, or a B.Sc. with at least 10 years professional engineering experience including demonstrated technical business development roles with an engineering consulting firm. Experience of a matrix organization would be considered advantageous.
