Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a full time Senior Site Mechanical Technician to provide field support for our Water group in in the South region. This is a great opportunity for a motivated, energetic individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment. The successful candidate will work on diverse tasks for a variety of projects. The successful candidate should be able to work independently and with small and large teams to apply critical thinking and collaboration skills to meet client expectation and develop innovative project-specific solutions.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Works in conjunction with engineers, and scientists to solve project challenges.

  • Interacts with client representatives and construction contractors.

  • Inspects and reviews projects during construction, monitoring conformance with plans, specifications, and other codes and regulations.

  • Monitors the progress of construction activities, ensuring cost, schedule and quality standards are met.

  • Prepares daily report input of construction progress.

  • Provides the Site Manager with updates on project progress or delays to client, design professionals, and/or contractor.

  • Inspects installation and placement of process/mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, process piping and balance of plant construction commodities.

  • Examines construction materials, checking to see if they meet specifications.

  • Reviews plans, specifications, requests for information, submittals, construction schedules, shop drawings and pay applications (QA/QC).

  • Tabulates monthly quantities for use in assessing contractors' monthly payment estimates.

  • Prepares documents and maintains file management of project-related information including correspondence, reports, and pictures.

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

  • Plans and executes work in a safe manner.

  • This position will require primarily field work and does require the ability to travel regionally with extended overnight stays on occasions. Travel expenses are included in accordance with Stantec policies and practices.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Able to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.

  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other project team members.

  • Effectively communicates project issues with contractor, project team and clients.

  • Experience with field construction activities is a plus.

  • Proficient with desktop office software applications (word processor, spreadsheets, etc.).

  • Working knowledge of codes and design requirements is a plus.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Self-starter/motivated.

  • Willingness to learn on the job.

  • Able to work under and meet tight deadlines.

  • Working understanding of policies and procedures for Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) protection, including client-specific training (as required).

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent, Technical Degree or Bachelor of Science in related field is a plus.

  • Minimum 5 years related experience required. Additional on-the-job training can be provided.

  • Position will primarily work in a field setting with extended weekly travel; may require some office work.
