Stantec is working on many of the world’s largest, complex and most exciting dams and hydro projects. Due to our ongoing success we are rapidly growing and seek an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team, working on the design and development of cutting-edge dams, hydropower and pumped storage hydro solutions. This role can be based anywhere in the UK.

It is a great opportunity to join a growing multi disciplinary team involved in projects as varied and different as Coire Glas in Scotland, Koysha in Ethiopia, and Dinorwig in Wales, as well as supporting many of the UK water companies with inspections, remediation and development of new dams and reservoirs.

As an experienced senior level Electrical Engineer, you will hold responsibility for working and liaising with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, clients, supply chain partners, contractors, planners and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for the projects and community. As a senior member of the team, you will help develop the team by acting as a mentor or guide to less experienced members.

To support the nature of our consultancy business, at times you may be asked to support projects within other sectors of our Energy business, including Thermal Generation and Transmission & Distribution.

About You

You will be experienced in producing design drawings and documents including (to various levels of detail depending upon the project), single line diagrams, key line diagrams, block cable diagrams, calculations (e.g. for equipment sizing and fault ratings), load schedules, specifications, reports and be familiar with collaborative reviews and designs of solutions.

Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the IET is strongly preferred. Specific experience in electrical design of hydro and/or pumped storage hydro systems is a must. Electrical experience in other sectors, particularly elsewhere within the Energy and Water sectors is advantageous.

You will have strong communication skills to give technical presentations to clients and other design engineers as well as inputting into collaborative design discussions including technical workshops.
