Your Opportunity

The role of a Senior Aviation Engineer located in our New York City office is assist in the development and design of project drawings, details, and specifications within budget and on time, in accordance with current Civil Engineering knowledge and practices in the Aviation field. In this role, you will need to be able to work independently as well collaboratively to complete design tasks, initiate tasks, and coordinate with your own internal team members and the client for the successful completion of the project.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Design runways, taxiways, aprons and support facilities (roadways pavement markings and drainage structures).

  • Develop airport layout plans, construction cost estimates, and perform computer aided design.

  • Develop and direct design and preparation of technical reports, calculations project drawings, details & specifications.

  • Exercise judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.

  • Apply diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices, including advanced techniques, theory, precepts, and practices in the civil engineering field and related sciences and disciplines.

  • Interface with and support multi-discipline architectural / engineering teams.

  • Coordinate the project with regulatory agencies and serve as a liaison between clients and agencies, subcontractors, and design teams.

  • Provide customer/client support.

  • Instruct, mentor, and assist junior staff in their career development. Potential act as direct supervisor to other staff members.

  • May write and negotiate proposals as project issues arise with clients or reviewing agencies.

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • 7-10 years experience with design/planning/management of commercial aviation planning and design projects.

  • Must be able to obtain TSA security clearance at commercial airports.

  • Ability to efficiently manage time/tasks to allow quality work on concurrent projects.

  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule.

  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.

  • Prior experience with airport construction projects is a plus.

  • Proficient in relevant design software, which includes AutoCAD Civil3D.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.

  • Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients, contractors, equipment suppliers/vendors, funding agencies and reviewing agencies; to deliver technical presentations in public forums in conferences and technical symposia.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering & Licensed Professional Engineer in New York. Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience.

Position will primarily work in an office setting but will require some field work.
