Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Environmental Services Power Sector, which includes Transmission & Distribution, Renewables, and Generation, will be a $300M Energy Transition book of business in the U.S. by 2030 lead by three Client Account Portfolios: (1) 20 Investor-Owned Utilities, (2) 15 Independent Power Producers, and (3) 15 Public Utility / Crown Companies.

We are seeking a senior business leader to serve as Transmission & Distribution Sector leader for environmental services (ES) in the United States. Our ideal candidate will have extensive Account Management experience with an Investor-Owned Utility, seeing annual double-digit growth. The successful candidate will embody Stantec’s philosophy that “we are better together” and will demonstrate a keen ability to organize information, communicate clearly, manage expectations, and provide a framework for driving top line growth with our 20 Investor-Owned Utility Portfolio. This individual will establish the strategic direction for Stantec’s Transmission & Distribution sector in collaboration with other members of the environmental services Power team.

Your Key Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Grow the 20 Investor-Owned Utility Account Portfolio.

  • Identify and win large transmission and distribution programs while leveraging Global Stantec relationships for ES with existing clients.

  • Drive top line opportunities for the entire range of Stantec services and champion an integrated services approach.

  • Partner with appropriate Sector Leaders and Regional Practice Leaders; assist regional leaders in the Budget, Annual Review, and Bonus processes.

  • Build, grow, and develop a team of high performers; recruit & retain specialist staff, project managers and account managers within the practice.

  • Develop in-house Sector expertise, best practices, and research & development initiatives.

  • Be responsible for the Renewable Energy Sector M&BD Plan, with inputs from other members of the Power team.

Strategic Thinking

  • Identify trends and develop a long-term view of the industry, market, and client base.

  • Assist in the growth of ES by establishing new service areas.

  • Anticipate medium- and long-term client needs and industry dynamics.

  • Innovate and enhance ES’s Transmission & Distribution capabilities, geographic footprint, and integrated approach.

Leadership

  • Direct all marketing and business development activities within the Transmission & Distribution Sector.

  • Lead Thought Leadership opportunities in support of the T&D Sector, including white papers, blogs, other engagement with WIRES, Forbes Energy, IEEE, ….

  • Work closely with account managers, regional leaders, and technical service leadership to deliver safe, profitable, and sustainable projects and services for our clients.

  • Develop a team of high performers through coaching and mentoring account managers in growing global & national Renewable Energy accounts.

  • Support the development of multi-disciplinary project execution teams, including engineering, survey, and geotechnical practitioners.

  • Drive Stantec’s Safer Together culture, prioritizing the health and safety of our employees.

  • Known for sustaining long-term client relationships.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of time as required.

  • Must have a good driving record and valid driver’s license.

Education and Experience

The successful candidate will have a proven track record as a key contributor to a global leadership team, including the following qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in environmental science or engineering is required. We prefer that candidates also have a graduate degree in a technical, business, or marketing field, but a graduate degree is not required.

  • 15 years of experience in the Transmission & Distribution sector, including expertise in consulting is preferred.

  • Environmental regulatory experience within the Transmission & Distribution is preferred.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • NYC $191,800/Outside NYC $152,200 - NYC $$297,200/Outside NYC $235,900 Min/Max Pay Range(s) for postings located in NYC/NY

  • $167,400 - $259,500 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI

  • $179,600 - $278,400 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in WA

  • SF Area $191,800/CA Other Areas $ 167,400 - SF Area $$297,200/CA Other Areas $259,500 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
