Stantec Protection & Control Engineer - Transmission & Distribution (Energy) in Nationwide, United Kingdom

We are seeking an enthusiastic and diligent Protection & Control Engineer in our Energy Team. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of projects, across various technical disciplines with clients across country. These projects can include HVDC, interconnectors, windfarms, substations, OHL, geotechnical solutions, building design, protection systems, LVAC, FEED, new builds, refurbishment works, connections schemes etc.

As a P&C Engineer you will work with a passionate team of like-minded engineers across a range of projects up to 400kV. You will be involved in taking projects from concept through detailed design and supporting them during construction and energisation. Ideally you will have experience in working with key T&D clients in the UK.

In addition, you'll have the opportunity to be involved in projects focused on innovation, standardisation, technology assessment as well as working with our suppliers on new products and services.

You will be joining a growing and collaborative team, working in partnership with a variety of clients to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to industry-wide efficiency and environmental challenges. We have ambitious growth plans and as a result there are lots of great development opportunities within our teams. This is an opportunity to play an important part in the U.K. energy transition.

Your role will involve developing scoping documentation and Main Connections & Protection Diagrams. You will review Protection & Control Designs developed by third parties while specifying P&C related equipment and plant such as relays, CTs and VTs.

You will produce detailed designs including AC/DC schematics while carrying out protection grading studies, producing relay files and settings. You will review Commissioning Plans and attending Commissioning Panel meetings.

ABOUT YOU

You will have a Bachelors degree or equivalent in an electrical engineering or related field. You will have previous experience of working on Distribution Networks as a Protection & Control Design Engineer.

You will have knowledge and experience of protection relays and relay panels, CT & VT sizing calculations, protection grading studies and the producing of detailed and accurate AC/DC drawings and knowledge of UK electrical practices and standards and an understanding/appreciation of CDM regulations.

You will have a high regard for safety with demonstrable experience of risk mitigation and ideally, experience working with National Grid process.

With an expanding, and rapidly growing energy sector, we are also looking for individuals from various technical backgrounds who may not meet the above criteria or may come from other industries. Stantec will develop, provide support and training to the right people. You will need to be proactive with a willingness to learn, and have a Bachelors degree or equivalent in a related technical field.
