Our Buildings operating unit is seeking a Regional Growth Leader (RGL) for Quebec, a region which includes over 400 engineers, technologists, and technical staff delivering work across multiple sectors including healthcare, education, civic, and industrial projects. The RGL Quebec is an integral member of the Stantec Buildings BOU leadership team overseeing market growth and development in the Quebec region. This includes the strategic planning, growth into new markets, development of new key accounts, and driving collaboration of strategy across the Business Centers within the province. The RGL identifies, prioritizes, and helps develop key clients and opportunities in the region, directing the efforts of Business Center Practice Leaders and Account Managers. The RGL drives the revenue growth program through strategic regional initiatives, organic and acquisitive growth, client capture strategy, sound operations management service expansion and growth, and client engagement. The RGL also works in collaboration with the Buildings’ Regional Business Leader for Canada East to achieve financial targets and oversee strategic hiring in Quebec.

The RGL Quebec reports to the Buildings Growth Leader – North America and works collaboratively with other RGLs, Regional Business Leaders, and Sector Leaders within the company to pursue projects that benefit the Stantec team as a whole. The role includes managing the Quebec team of Business Centre Practice Leaders.

Your role as the RGL for Quebec includes responsibilities in the following areas:

  • Strategy – Working alongside other RGLs, strengthen our market position through organic and acquisitive growth strategies for Quebec and transformative growth initiatives.

  • Top line accountability – oversight and accountability for top line activities within Quebec.

  • Client Development - developing strong relationships and portfolios with key clients and major accounts.

  • Business Management : In collaboration with the Regional Business Leader for Canada East, work to achieve the vision and priorities of the operating unit through effective management of the operations in Quebec. Contribute to the development and implementation of the regional business plan and the establishment of objectives that align with and advance the objectives of the operating unit. The RGL will advance these responsibilities through engaging the team across the region, its projects and pursuits, and the industry at large as a brand ambassador.

Strategy

  • Develop and execute acquisitive and organic growth strategies for the Quebec region in collaboration with Buildings Leadership.

  • Remain attune to major market drivers, megatrends, campaigns, regional politics, regulatory challenges, and economic indicators that may influence risks and opportunities for the region and share the knowledge.

  • Connect internal resources (subject matter experts, project and technical leads, pursuit resources, etc.) to leverage Stantec’s engagement of internal resources and to optimize our chance of capture.

  • Promote collaboration between Business Leaders, Regional Business Leaders, Sector Leaders, Business Centre Practice Leaders, Business Center Operations Leaders, Account Managers and Principals; focus on cross-selling to consistently win new work with clients within the region.

Top line Accountability

  • Oversee and be accountable for top line and key performance metrics including sales performance, ROI, capture rate, and pipeline data integrity.

  • Lead and develop a team of engaged and collaborative principals in each office, setting expectations/accountability for team performance.

  • Lead/participate in go/no-go decisions and pursuit budget discussions for large and/or strategic pursuits in the region.

  • Identify and support the Quebec top 20 strategic pursuits. Develop criteria for partnering and subconsultant use, monitor team activities and progress, monitor pursuit spend/budget, contribute to pursuit strategy, align execution with the operating unit’s strategic programs i.e. innovation, digital practice, and virtual design and delivery.

  • Coordinate with RGLs and Sector Leaders to connect subject matter experts, identify resource needs in Quebec, pursue opportunities, and support key sector pursuits in Top 20s.

  • Maintain accountability of the Quebec Buildings business development and net revenue results in partnership with the Regional Business Leader.

  • Manage the Quebec Buildings business development budget to plan and prioritize conference and tradeshow investments, in coordination with Business Centre Practice Leaders.

  • Support development of technical proposals for strategic pursuits.

  • Measure, monitor and promote data accuracy in Stantec’s opportunity pipeline with Buildings Leadership.

  • Contribute to accurate net revenue forecasts for the region.

Client Development

  • Develop strong relationships and portfolios with key clients in the region.

  • Identify regional opportunities, help understand local client drivers, and work with local governments to understand drivers/incentives, creating opportunities and leading the industry where appropriate.

  • Nurture existing markets, partnering with Sector and Business Centre Leaders to maintain and deepen client relationships.

  • Build strong partnerships with leaders in other operating units to foster cross collaboration on client opportunities to diversify the client base, grow new expertise, and drive organic revenue growth.

  • Be personally involved in strategic project pursuits, and major project leadership teams.

Growth Initiatives

  • Identify potential areas for investment within Quebec that could result in new revenue growth at the operating unit or Corporate level.

  • Working with the Buildings Growth Leader, identify which Strategic Growth Initiatives (SGIs) provide the most significant opportunity for the Buildings BOU in Quebec. Connect Quebec Buildings leaders and locations with SGI leaders to unite strategy, resources, and targeted clients. For each SGI, outline the potential of each opportunity and goals for our participation regionally.

  • Identify potential acquisitions, group hires, bundled hires, and strategic hires to achieve growth targets and diversification within Quebec and pursue these in collaboration with the Buildings Growth Leader and other RGLs.

Operations Management:

  • Work with the RBL for Canada East to manage the Quebec business in order to uphold the vision, focus, and priorities set for the Buildings operating unit.

  • Develop and action specific goals for the business in alignment with Buildings objectives.

  • Partner with the Regional Business Leader for Canada East to guide and hold leaders accountable for meeting growth and revenue targets

  • Build and maintain relationships with other Stantec Business Lines and Sectors in Quebec to foster cross-pollination of work and to capitalize on new business opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Exceptionally strong understanding of the Quebec portfolio and its markets. Ability to read the market for growth opportunity and stay ahead of competitors.

  • Strong business acumen with ability to identify, develop and map strategy, deliver initiatives, and analyze performance results based on a deep understanding of the industry.

  • Outstanding client service skills with ability to lead others in delivering "a gold standard of service" to our clients.

  • Excellent leadership skills with proven ability to see, build, and sustain the long-term future of the practice by continuously sharing vision and working to unify the practice.

  • Strong collaborator who can bring together multi-disciplinary, multi-Business Centre teams on a variety of projects.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including polished presentation and public speaking skills.

  • Fluency in both English and French required.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Professional Degree and registration preferred in your field of practice, as applicable.

  • 15 years of relevant work experience in a multi-disciplinary engineering practice.
