Cardno, now Stantec is seeking a Field Supervisor – Ecological Restoration to implement project work in the ecological restoration management fields in the Greater Chicago area. Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the position includes the direct supervision/coordination of field crews, interpreting construction plans/specifications, assists in administering Cardno’s Health and Safety culture, track project budgets, and ensuring equipment maintenance. Projects will involve field labor, technical work, and/or supervision. A typical workday consists of an 8-10 hour day although, in accordance with the requirements of specific assignments, may include irregular hours.
Your Key Responsibilities
Implementing restoration project work at the ground level under the direction of regional Operations Manager and/or Project Managers.
Native planting, seeding, erosion control installation, herbicide application, prescribed fire or any other activities necessary with field implementation of ecological restoration projects.
Supervisors may be requested to spend up to 1-3 nights per month out of town working at remote locations
Adhering to corporate policies, operate through the proper management channels, and act in the best interest of firm
Your Capabilities and Credentials
2 years leading field crews related to ecological restoration.
Experience operating truck/ trailer combinations ( 20,000 lb GVWR).
Experience operating equipment such as tractors, ATVs, chainsaws, and/ or skidsteers.
Ability to travel occasionally overnight.
Experience with herbicide handling and application.
Experience in native and invasive species plant identification and/ or restoration techniques.
Supervisors will be required to obtain commercial Pesticide Applicator's License.
Valid Driver's License.
Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or Red Card.
Experience with technical report writing a plus.
Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
Operating a Global Positioning System a plus.
- Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Life Sciences (Ecology, Environmental Science, Botany, Biology, Fisheries, Forestry) preferred OR equivalent experience.
