On, above and under the earth’s surface we are providing our clients a full range of Geomatics, Surveying and Mapping services. Your Opportunity

We provide our clients a full range of surveying and mapping services. Through our work, we define land boundaries, rights-of-way, easements, land surface and under water topographic features, building features, construction staking, utilities, and analyzing all types of spatial data for our internal and external client’s projects. You will have the opportunity to operate multiple surveying instruments such as laser scanners, GPS, robotic total stations, drones (if FAA Part 107 certified), remote controlled boats (bathymetric) and data collectors supporting our Professional Land Surveyors and Civil Engineers on a variety of projects.

At Stantec, we are searching for experienced Land Survey Crew Chief for our following offices: Plymouth, MN or Woodbury, MN. We provide the opportunity for our survey staff to advance their individual careers including the ultimate goal of Professional Licensure or Certified Survey Technician.

You will perform surveying, mapping, and data collection work under the guidance of a Licensed Professional Land Surveyor or a Survey Project Manager.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate measurements and calculations.

  • Recording of field data.

  • Leading survey field crew and providing work instruction.

  • Ensuring completion dates and budgets are met.

  • Ensuring consistent application of Stantec’s operating standards and safety practices.

  • Utilizing Trimble Business Center to transfer data to the proper location in the computer network and to acquire data for field use.

  • Assist in the preparation of survey drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D software.

  • Identify hazardous situations and apply safety procedures and company standards.

  • Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of vehicles, ATVs, tools, and equipment.

  • Maybe required to drive company or personal vehicle to reach job sites.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience performing field boundary, topographic, land title surveys, and construction staking.

  • Be responsive and able to perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment.

  • Well-developed understanding of field survey methods and calculations.

  • Ability to operate Trimble Data Collectors, GPS, Robotic Total Stations, and relevant survey equipment.

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D, Trimble Business Center and related software.

  • Excellent cooperative skills and working efficiently with a team.

  • Strong skills in communication, time management, organization, and meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

  • Valid driver’s license.

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree or technical school diploma/certificate in a related program with a minimum of 2-3 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Position will primarily be field work with exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Travel maybe necessary. Dependent on experience, office duties would be available.
