Your Opportunity

In the role of Process Engineering Technician / Technologist, this individual will have the opportunity to contribute to a multi-disciplinary team on the design and delivery of wastewater and environmental projects for our clients. Your Key Responsibilities

The candidate will support engineering projects for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment systems, as well as the management of industrial by-products.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Be part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting environmental and wastewater projects from planning/permitting through design and construction.

  • Provide design guidance and instruction to drafting staff and junior/intermediate designers.

  • Participate in quality assurance and quality control review on own projects and projects of peers.

  • Perform field work including construction observation and wastewater operations troubleshooting and support.

  • Build and foster relationships with clients, contractors, equipment vendors, and regulatory authorities.

  • Embracing Stantec’s internal policies and practices, including risk management, project management, and quality management.

  • Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to junior and intermediate technical staff.

  • Contribute to project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, clients, and other various project stakeholders as required.

  • Take accountability for the project schedule and deadlines for the design and submission of engineering drawings.

  • Contribute to more than one project each day and manage time accordingly.

  • Perform engineering calculations required for planning and design. Assist with wastewater engineering duties on projects of various complexity.

  • Prepare written memos, reports, and proposals.

  • Assist with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.

  • Assists in the review of shop drawings and submittals, responding to requests for information, preparing site observation reports, and performing other contract administration tasks.

  • Attends project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.

  • Promoting collaboration and teamwork across engineering disciplines, business lines and geographies.

  • Adheres to policies and standards set forth in Stantec's Quality System documents.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Must have a thorough understanding of wastewater treatment and management of industrial by-products.

  • Must be a self-motivated individual possessing strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Take a solution-oriented approach to solving problems.

  • Must exhibit attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Participates and collaborates in project team setting and able to engage in creative and critical thought.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience

Technical degree in science-related field. Minimum of 10 years of work experience. Wastewater operator’s license preferred.

Position will primarily work in an office setting; however, this position will require field work depending on the season. Office environment involves working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Stantec offers flexible working arrangements to accommodate remote work, in office, or a combination thereof. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
