Your Opportunity

The role of the Geologist is to perform environmental assessments, hydrogeological studies, subsurface investigations, remediation, and monitoring projects; sampling of soil, sediment, surface water, and groundwater; oversight of subcontractors; production of maps; data interpretation/evaluation and deliverable preparation. Focus is on local and regional brownfield redevelopment projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the implementation and management of brownfield and/or property redevelopment projects

  • Preparing project deliverables including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, work plans, sampling and analysis plans, site investigation reports and remedial action planning documents, in whole or in part, depending on the size and complexity of the document

  • Participate in proposal preparation (work scope, task-level budgeting, cost estimates), gather or review information, or prepare standard sections of proposals

  • Research and prepare state and local grant applications

  • Develop tables and figures using analytical data and topographic/site maps

  • Responsible for coordinating with subcontractors (such as analytical laboratories, private locators, and drillers) while performing office assignments

  • Periodic field work is required, including Phase I ESA site visits, ground water sampling, environmental drilling, and windshield surveys

  • Experience with construction oversight, remediation system operation and maintenance activities a plus, but not required

  • Demonstrates sound application of established practices, standards and guidelines

  • Provides staff mentorship and training

  • Reviews work of junior staff

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • 40 hour HAZWOPER certification is required

  • Proficient in policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training, leads by example, and applies these policies and procedures as appropriate to their work

  • Solid skills in technical writing and grant preparation

  • Skillful in communications and technical information exchange with clients, engineers and scientists, government regulators and agencies, and academia, as well as non-technical communication to the public

  • Good driving record and valid driver’s license required

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geoscience, or related field.

Professional Geologist license a plus.

Minimum 4 years related Minnesota specific experience required.

Majority of time spent in office environment with prolonged sitting and computer work, or combination of office and field. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
