Your Opportunity

We are seeking an Entry Level Air Quality/Environmental Engineer or Scientist to be located at our office in Woodbury, Minnesota. The successful candidate will primarily complete projects to assist clients with air quality permitting, and air quality compliance and reporting. Industry categories Stantec serves include electric utilities, renewable energy, food/beverage production, agricultural products, miscellaneous manufacturing, and papermaking, mining, and mineral products. Miscellaneous administrative tasks may be required.

For candidates with applicable skill sets or educational background, this position could be expanded to include a supporting role on and multi-media environmental compliance projects. Tasks for environmental compliance projects could include program assistance for environmental laws and regulations associated with, but not limited to, hazardous waste, storm water, Tier II reporting, wastewater, and spill planning. We are open to hybrid or remote work arrangements.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare reports and compile appropriate forms for air emission permit applications to authorize construction, modification or operation of facilities.

  • Prepare air emission calculations.

  • Identify applicable environmental regulations.

  • Assist clients in identifying appropriate monitoring, testing, record-keeping, and reporting protocols.

  • Assist with facility compliance tasks for air quality, hazardous waste, storm water, Tier II reporting, TRI reporting, wastewater, spill planning, etc.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Approximately 0 – 3 years of environmental consulting experience or environmental engineering experience.

  • Experience working with Local, State or Federal agencies is preferred.

  • Work exposure to one or more industrial facility categories; for example, through an internship/co-op assignment, regulatory agency or prior manufacturing experience.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with both clients and project team members.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software platform, particularly Excel.

  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Strong analytical skills and good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.

  • Must be able to meet deadlines and put in the time needed to get the job done.

  • Able to travel regionally, have short overnight trips, or other.

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, environmental science, environmental policy, or related field.

Indoor (Office Environment) Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting. Noise level varies but generally at levels of conversation. Majority of time spent using a computer/laptop at a workstation and related office equipment. Time spent carrying, reaching, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling up to 9 kilograms / 20 pounds Occasional – 1-33% of shift. Subject to extended periods of sitting; may be required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk short to moderate distances to perform work. Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment if needed.
