Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking experienced Wetland & Lake Management Specialists in Miami, FL. Stantec is willing to offer competitive pay and benefits to hard working, diligent and reliable aquatic technicians with the right attitude to make working at Stantec their career. $18-$25/hr.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Daily work tasks include traversing wetlands, lakes and ponds, treating nuisance exotic plant species and algae

  • Herbicide application to targeted nuisance/exotic plants using a boat, backpack, and/or UTV

  • Supervision/Training of Junior Staff while in the field

  • Accurate documentation of daily field activities and organization of materials

  • Operating a boat, UTV/ATV and 4-wheel drive pickups are a daily occurrence

  • Projects will involve technical field work in hot and humid conditions

  • A typical work day consists of 8 hours in‐the‐field performing exotic plant management control, although, in accordance with the requirements of specific assignments, may include longer hours

  • This position may require occasional overnight travel.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Ability to traverse wet and/or rugged terrain in diverse, sometimes inclement, weather conditions while carrying up to 50 lbs

  • Ability to swim

  • Experience operating basic hand tools and smaller equipment such as backpack sprayers, augers, chainsaws, and/or brushcutters

  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment

  • Availability and willingness to travel overnight and adaptable to schedule changes upon short notice, is a plus

  • Must be able to work in an environment where safety is at the forefront of all operations

  • Valid Driver's License with the ability to drive a company vehicle and an acceptable motor vehicle record

  • Experience in native and invasive species plant identification a plus

  • Experience working or recreating in the Florida Environment Experience operating equipment such as ATVs/UTVs, boats, airboats, tractors, chippers, and/or skid steers a plus

  • Experience with herbicide handling, application, and application equipment a plus

  • Knowledge and/or experience in exotic plant species and lake management techniques a plus

  • Experience in map reading, GIS, and/or operating a GPS Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or Red Card a plus

Education and Experience

  • 2 years conducting aquatic vegetation control

  • Technicians will be given the opportunity to obtain Commercial Pesticide Applicator's Certifications in Categories of Aquatics and Natural Areas
