Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Air Quality, Climate Change and Acoustics group is dedicated to helping our clients manage air quality, climate change issues and noise emissions professionally and proactively. Our professional engineers and scientists provide specialized services to a wide variety of sectors including manufacturing, industry, commercial, transportation, and government. We offer a full suite of services including design and permitting, monitoring programs, predictive modelling, Greenhouse Gas emission quantification and verification, as well as planning and policy studies.

We have an immediate opening for a Senior Air Quality Engineer or Scientist to join our team in our Markham, Toronto, or Hamilton office.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Client liaison and business development.

  • Project management.

  • Preparation and review of proposals and budget estimates.

  • Liaison with regulatory agencies.

  • Authoring and reviewing technical air quality related reports.

  • Collection and interpretation of data and information (desktop and at client sites).

  • Providing direction, mentorship, and support to staff in areas of your expertise.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong and proactive business development and client liaison skills to win new work and successfully deliver projects.

  • Experience with managing projects in a consulting environment is necessary.

  • Strong understanding of Provincial (Ontario) and Federal regulatory requirements and guidelines is needed.

  • Excellent quantitative and computer skills with Microsoft Office software is needed.

  • Proficient with preparation of Emission Summary and Dispersion Modelling Reports in accordance with Ontario regulatory requirements is required.

  • Strong understanding of air dispersion modelling of emission sources using modelling programs is needed.

  • Proven experience in successfully dealing with regulatory agencies on behalf of clients would be an asset.

  • Experience with ambient air quality monitoring and stack testing would be an asset.

  • Experience with Greenhouse Gas quantification, verification, mitigation, and reduction planning would be an asset.

  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written in English) is required.

  • Experience in providing supervision and mentorship to junior staff is expected.

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and in a multi-disciplinary team is required.

  • Ability and willingness to work from home with suitable internet service is required.

  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of environmental air quality related consulting experience in Ontario.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Meteorology, Atmospheric Chemistry, or related Environmental Science.

  • A Master’s or Ph.D. in engineering or relevant science would be an asset.

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario is preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
