We are currently looking for an Engineer-In-Training to join our Integrity division in our Markham or Edmonton office.
Your Key Responsibilities
Support projects dealing with AC interference modelling and mitigation on pipelines, cathodic protection, and engineering assessments related to pipeline integrity.
Modelling of complex pipeline and powerline geometries using specialized computer software, including extensive data input and analysis
Design of AC mitigation systems to reduce the risk of electrical shock to pipeline personnel, as well as integrity risks to the pipeline (coating damage, AC corrosion, etc.)
Technical report writing, preparation of charts, tables and design reports
Develop detailed designs as required and collaborate with drafting personnel to prepare design drawing packages
Perform engineering calculations (resistance, current distribution, ground potential rise, etc.)
Prepare pipeline and powerline information questionnaires and site survey procedures for collection of field data
Coordinate engineering aspects of installation of AC mitigation and cathodic protection systems
Potential field work consisting of soil resistivity testing, structure potentials, right-of-way evaluations, and constructability assessments for AC mitigation and cathodic protection systems
Assist and consult with other team members on a regular basis for designated projects
Be familiar with the applicable codes and legislation (NACE, CSA, IEEE, etc.)
Liaise with and provide technical assistance to other divisions within the company - Establish and maintain positive client relationships
Compliance with Stantec’s EH&S program, with a focus on safety in the field
Your Capabilities and Credentials
EIT status recognized by Professional Engineers Alberta or Ontario
Demonstrated technical proficiency
Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem solving skills are essential
Demonstrated initiative, flexibility and adaptability
Excellent computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Word and mapping tools such as Google Earth
G class driver’s license (some travel may be required)
NACE certification is an asset
Previous experience with AC interference or cathodic protection is an asset
Education and Experience
University degree in an engineering discipline (electrical engineering preferred)
0-2 years of work experience
