Stantec Senior or Associate Environmental Planner in Leeds, United Kingdom

Our growing Environmental Planning team has an exciting opportunity for a talented, commercially minded and experienced Senior or Associate Environmental Planner to join them as part of the team’s ongoing growth strategy. We have a growing pipeline of complex projects in Infrastructure sector (consisting of primarily DCO projects in the energy, water and transportation sectors, which will be critical for the UK to meet its Net Zero targets and boost the economy) and also the the Town and Country Planning regime.

This is a great opportunity to raise your own profile and that of the team, by establishing, building and maintaining client relationships and to play an integral supporting role in the management and development of the team.

We are flexible on office location, but ideal locations include; Leeds, Warrington, London, Bristol, Birmingham and Cambridge.

About you

You will have excellent technical knowledge and understanding of environmental impact assessment best practice and the ways in which this applies to the UK Planning system. You will have proven experience of all stages of the EIA process and post-submission/determination.

Within this role, you will:

  • Manage and co-ordinate Environmental Impact Assessments and associated processes for a range of developments including large Development Consent Order (DCO) and Town and Country Planning Act (TCPA) projects;

  • Produce documents, letters and reports for all stages of the EIA process (including Scoping and Preliminary Environmental Information), and other related assessment work, from inception through to completion;

  • Be involved in/manage the EIA process from inception to completion, including instructing junior staff to prepare the ES introductory and concluding chapters and Non-Technical Summary;

  • Attend project meetings and support with help lead EIA team meetings;

  • Review ES technical chapters and deliver the project to programme and budget;

  • Assist with the mentoring and development of junior team members locally and within the national team
