Primary Purpose of Job:

Contribute to the ongoing growth of STANTEC ResourceNet Private India Ltd by providing technical expertise in the building sector, as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering conceptual design, outline design, detailed design and construction support for buildings, water/ wastewater treatment projects across the STANTEC offices (US, UK, Middle East, Asia Pacific etc.). To be involved in the implementation and delivery of leading-edge programs and projects.

Support project managers/team leader by providing technical support to ensure that project outcomes in terms of budget, schedule, technical and quality standards, meet both the client and STANTEC expectations.

Key Accountabilities:

•\tHas overall responsibility for the structural engineering work on the projects confirming to global codes.

•\tPrepares programs and schedules to assure all project tasks are taken care of in a timely fashion.

•\tUnderstands and monitors the financials of the project as related to the Structural team.

•\tApplies intensive and diversified knowledge of structural engineering principles and practices

•\tSelects the type of system in the concept stage by comparative study of various options in terms of cost, constructability, speed, client needs, etc.

•\tUsing software such as ETABS, SAFE, RAM Connection, Staad-Pro, SAP2000, Revit, etc. to develop the structural layout in the schematic stage fixing the arrangement of structural elements in coordination with the architects, MEP, and other related disciplines

•\tLeading a team of junior engineers and drafters to develop the design during schematic, detailed design, and tender stages, completing the design of the system, and all its primary and secondary members using relevant software for design of steel and concrete systems and individual elements

•\tReconciles the differences in designs done by various team members to create a seamless and uniform final design.

•\tMonitors the activities of design team members to ensure that the design intent is fulfilled.

•\tTrouble shoots and advises team members when encountering problems in analysis or design.

•\tCan perform the entire analysis, design, and detailing process alone.

•\tDeveloping full technical specifications for concrete, steel and steel related sections

•\tProviding the details for key connections between steel elements and between steel and supporting concrete elements

•\tCost estimation and value engineering for various steel options

•\tTechnical QA/QC of the calculations, drawings, specifications, etc.

•\tLiaison with authorities, clients, project managers, as well as other disciplines to get their requirements incorporated into the design and to defend the structural design in various stages

•\tRespond to tender queries raised by bidders and review bids during the tender stage

•\t Provide construction administration support during construction, by responding to RFI’s, checking shop drawings, performing site visits, etc.

•\tLooks for software and hardware update and notifies the Discipline Lead about new relevant software or updates.

•\tEnsures all project tasks are delivered on time as agreed with project or team leader.

•\tWith assistance, manages the progress of smaller projects by monitoring and reviewing project outputs to ensure client brief and expectations, budgets and timeframes are met.

Initiative and General:

•\tActively participates in team meetings/activities to discuss ways to achieve better results.

•\tApplies appropriate Stantec design / technical tools and guidelines to all tasks.

•\tAssists in the preparation of Proposal bids and submissions.

•\tResponds appropriately to performance feedback.

•\tAttends seminars, lectures, private research and reading of current design and technical literature – towards an aim of achieving professional status.

Qualifications:

• •\tMaster’s degree in Structural Engineering

•\tWill have 10 + years of structural design experience covering steel and concrete. Hands-on experience of BS/Euro/US/AP codes is a minimum requirement.

•\tWill have experience to perform structural engineering of variety of materials (RCC, Structural Steel, etc). Exposure of working on Middle East projects will be a plus

•\tVery strong Working knowledge of CSI-Etabs, Staad Pro, CSI-Safe, CSI-SAP, AutoCAD, and Revit knowledge is a plus

•\tKnowledge of Prokon, MIDAS, SpaceGass is a plus

•\tAppreciation of MS project or Primavera, Power Point and basic office suite.

•\tExcellent knowledge of construction practices

•\tEnthusiastic, highly motivated, organized, professional and able to communicate effectively – verbal, written and graphically. Highly skilled in computer and/or manual drawing and presentation.

•\tA high level of ability in conceptual design and design development. Able to illustrate and communicate conceptual thinking. Robust knowledge of tools, documentation, processes and procedures relevant to your discipline.

•\tWell-developed Project Management skills + effective leadership skills including coaching, supporting and delegation.
