Your Opportunity

The role of the Design Quality Assurance Program Manager (DQAPM) is to oversee quality management tasks on all types of infrastructure projects, to include but not be limited to, transportation and water. The Quality Assurance program will encompass all stages of a project from planning to construction. The DQAPM should be able to identify and evaluate pursuit opportunities and assist with pursuit development and submittals with client account managers. Your role will include developing project quality management plans with clearly defined roles and responsibilities for all involved parties including Owner Quality Assurance and Consultant Quality Control activities. Duties will also consist of coordinating and evaluating staff training, performance, and efficiencies as part of a Quality Management System. The projects assigned may have complex features that will require the application of mature knowledge and experience to address Request for Information (RFI) at the request of Owner, Engineer, or Contractor.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a quality assurance plan for each project assigned which could include multiple projects in different disciplines such as transportation and water.

  • Over time, develop an operational unit of employees to expand the base of Quality Assurance Management to projects outside of Kentucky and in other disciplines within Stantec.

  • Participate in selecting project team(s), assign responsibilities and duties, monitor progress, and check accuracy of completed work.

  • Confirm that project specifications, engineering considerations, project modifications, and schedules are followed, and discrepancies documented.

  • Mentor direct reports with the purpose of professional development, identification, and recommendation of advanced training needs.

  • Confirm commitments to clients are met in budget, timeliness, and accuracy to maintain close relationship with client throughout development of the project and beyond.

  • Assist in business development, recruitment, and hiring.

  • Produce accurate and timely invoices to clients.

  • Promote technical and professional certification through national associations and organizations.

  • Plan and administer training for improved versatility of personnel; promote career development.

  • Assist Client Account and Project Managers with operational requirements, costs analysis, and evaluation of potential future projects.

  • Pursuit and execute major projects either independently or by assisting Project Managers.

  • Provide leadership in the firm and set an example consistent with exemplary ethical standards.

  • Supports and encourage continuous improvement of the company’s processes, including the safety program and the quality management system.

  • Promote and stimulate systematic advances in the quality and timeliness of reporting to clients using technology, process improvements and process controls.

  • Execute work duties in an organized and efficient manner.

  • Communicate tactfully and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Maintain effective work relations with those encountered in the course of employment.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Efficient project management/technical leadership or Quality Assurance Management on multiple concurrent projects.

  • Understand client expectations, budgeting, proposal writing, and producing high quality deliverables.

  • Have a working knowledge in many relevant areas of design and understanding of various design and construction methods.

  • Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of design and constructions codes.

  • Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.

  • Strong knowledge of civil systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards.

  • Ability to lead one or more teams on multiple QAM assignments.

  • Check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule.

  • Leads, participates, and collaborates in project team setting and engages in creative and critical thought.

  • Understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others.

  • Strong presentation and interview skills.

  • Effective communicator and able to work on and lead teams.

  • Efficient project management of multiple concurrent projects.

  • Must be able to travel.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering. Minimum of 20 years of experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
