Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Business Leader, the Regional Business Leader (RBL) is accountable for the leadership of all BCs within a region to deliver excellent work to our clients: innovative design solutions with projects that exceed expectations and grow Stantec's market position.

Responsibility for financial performance (top and bottom line), through effective business management and business development, attracting and retaining key leaders and staff, taking responsibility for efficient resource management (that is responsive to available workloads) is fundamental.

It is the expectation that all leadership roles have a maximum term of 5-years, with the opportunity to reevaluate at the end of the term and for the purpose of succession and company growth.

Your Key Responsibilities

Business and Financial Management:

  • Responsible for the annual business plan and budget for the business line, outlining the

  • vision, focus, and priorities for implementation and setting specific goals for business performance.

  • Responsible for net revenue, gross margin, SG&A, and operating income targets in the BCs, working with RLs, SLs, and BC leaders to meet established targets.

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of improvement plans for distressed business units and BCs.

  • Responsible for utilization rate compliance and partners with global colleagues to drive collaboration and work sharing across the practice.

  • Responsible for business line budget in the region.

Client Focus:

  • Responsible for strong account management across geography and personally lead accounts of major business line clients in the region.

  • Achieve minimum client- and proposal-specific marketing and business development (M&BD) sales goals, including internal cross-selling initiatives, target 25% of time.

  • Conduct a minimum of 4 client feedback surveys per year.

  • Lead and participate in pursuits and campaigns for major regional opportunities.

Project Focus:

  • Lead delivery of significant regional project pursuits.

  • Achieve minimum direct utilization target of 30%.

  • Actively participate in major projects in key roles such as Project Director, Independent Technical Reviewers, Board of Management representatives, as required.

  • Achieve budgeted net revenue, gross margin, NR sales, General and Administrative Expenses {G&AJ, utilization and operating income targets.

  • Provide broad leadership influence:

  • Act as a highly regarded leader, thought partner and a source of counsel and advice for their region.

  • Be personally involved in key client relationships, strategic project pursuits and major project leadership within the region.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to reinforce and further develop Stantec's high performance culture with a focus on innovation, speed, and productivity.

  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.

  • Uphold a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices, encourages individual integrity, and focuses on the customer and service delivery.

  • Provide support through ongoing interface with Bls, RBLs, Rl s, Sl s, regarding resolution of operational issues identified within the BOU.

Health and Safety:

  • Responsible for the health and safety performance of their business centers {BC), including the monitoring of leading and lagging indicators, meeting leading indicator goals, and following up on BC Improvement Plans.

  • Promote compliance with regulatory requirements and the Health, Safety, Security, and Environment & Sustainability {HSSE) management system, follows up on COR audits {where applicable) and supports the return-to-work program.

  • Accountable for achieving a Total Recordable Incident Rate {TRIR) of< 0.60 for the business line regionally.

  • Accountable for achieving a Total Injury Rate {TIRJ of< 0.45 for the business line regionally.

  • Accountable for achieving LISI score of 1.0 and goal of 2.0.

People Leadership:

  • Responsible for developing best in class high performing teams across their region suited to the longer-term mission and goals of the business.

  • Actively involved in recruitment, career development, employee engagement, succession planning, coaching and mentoring, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development for the business line.

  • Responsible to manage utilization to achieve the above financial performance metrics.

  • Complete staffing and demographic reviews for the region on a bi-annual basis, and continuously evolve the leadership cadre and their skillsets.

  • Support Regional Leaders {Rls) to meet the business objectives of the region.

  • Responsible for the yearly employee performance review {YEPRJ, rate review, and STIP/bonus -allocation for the business line regionally.

  • Accountable for staff engagement in the region exceeding business set engagement score KPls.

  • Responsible for the action planning following employee engagement feedback and Business Center {BC) Improvement Pla ns.

  • Able to attract and retain top performing talent.

  • Responsible for effectively sharing talent across the region/geography/country.

  • Partners with BC leadership to ensure employee retention targets are met. (voluntary turnover at < l 0%).

  • Conducts quarterly visits to 100% of offices within the region with a population of 25 or more, communicating the vision and business strategy to drive engagement and connectedness.

Quality and Innovation:

  • Partners with Sls and Dls to inspire, motivate, and hold teams accountable for the delivery of innovative design solutions.

  • Responsible for compliance with the ISO-certified Integrated Management System and Project Management (PM) Framework.

  • Responsible for their BOU's component of collaborative action plans for business specific clients.

  • Accountable for achieving > 95% PM Framework compliance from internal practice audits.

Business Development and Collaboration:

  • Accountable to achieve organic growth targets of the region.

  • Focuses on client relationship strategy, working with Principals and BC leaders to drive strong results in the client satisfaction survey within the respective region-leading business development strategy and assisting BC leaders and Principals to expand our reach and client base utilizing strong Marketing and Business Development plans, Account Management plans, and key pursuit strategies in partnership with Sls

  • Increases visibility of Stantec by sharing our knowledge and innovation story through key client engagements to enhance our reputation and drive revenue.

  • Actively contributes to win strategies and successful project execution and becomes involved at a hands-on level in key pursuits as needed and on projects should issues impacting client satisfaction or project management best practices esc ala te.

  • Cooperate and collaborate as an RBL team across the BOU and work seamlessly with their peers for overall Stantec suc c ess .

  • Responsible for developing and managing the marketing and business development (M&BD) plan for the business line within a specific region or geographic region including cross selling.

  • Utilize Pipeline monitoring by others to optimize business development plans.

  • Ensure marketplace reputation through established relationships and support of Sls and Rls.

  • Develop and Maintain Stantec's Integrated Practice in the specified region. Which includes:

  • The development and maintenance of a cohesive Stantec brand,

  • Key client and Account development and maintenance,

  • Market and community outreach and engagement.

  • Responsible for the business line regional annual business plan and budget, outlining the vision, focus, and priorities for implementation and setting specific goals for business performanc e.

  • Responsible for net revenue, gross margin, SG&A, and operating income targets in the BCs, working with Rls, Sls, Dls, and BC leaders to meet established targets.

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of corrective actions for underperforming operations.

  • Responsible for net revenue forecasts by period, quarter and year end.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Extensive leadership experience with a large volume organization combined with a university degree in a professional discipline.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Indoor {Office Environment) Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting. Noise level varies but generally at levels of conversa tion . Majority of time spent using computer/laptop at workstation and related office equipment. Time spent carrying, reaching, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling up to 20 p ound s: Occasional - 1-33% of shift.

Subject to extended periods of sitting; may be required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk short to moderate distances to perform work. Requirement to wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required

  • Safety Equipment - wear personal protective equipment as required and may include one or all the following: steel toed shoes/boots, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, coveralls, respirators, etc.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
