Your Opportunity

Join Stantec as an Industrial Permits and Authorizations Project Manager to lead the preparation of deliverables required for permit applications and environmental approvals. Your contribution will enable our industrial customers to build, improve, maintain, and operate their assets.

This position requires occasional travel outside the office to visit industrial sites located mainly in Quebec. You will work as part of a team with other specialists such as engineers, technicians, and designers. The position is based in either Ville St-Laurent, Montreal, or Quebec City.

Your key responsibilities

  • Work directly with clients to provide strategic environmental advice and manage projects through all stages of the regulatory approval process, including provincial and federal regulatory frameworks.

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data and information (in the office and at customer sites) related to greenhouse gas (GHG), water, air, and stack emissions.

  • Develop the most effective approach to obtaining regulatory approvals and permit requirements.

  • Provide environmental regulatory technical assistance for medium and large-scale process modification, capacity expansion and industrial construction projects at all stages from assessment and application to approvals.

  • Writing and technical review of reports.

  • Liaise with clients.

  • Participate in business development by identifying opportunities.

  • Write service offers.

  • Guidance, coaching and support of staff in your areas of expertise.

  • Collaborate with professionals from other Stantec business units in Quebec (building engineering, engineering, transportation), to provide environmental support for their projects.

  • Collaborate with Stantec professionals in other Canadian provinces.

  • Ensure that budgets and deadlines are respected.

Qualifications

Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, chemical engineering, environmental sciences, or related field.

  • Minimum 10 years' relevant experience, including 5 years in industrial permit and authorization applications.

  • Proficiency in preparing summary reports, preferably in compliance with Quebec and Canadian regulatory requirements.

  • Project management experience in a consulting engineering environment.

  • Proven experience dealing with regulatory agencies on behalf of clients.

  • Experience supervising and mentoring more junior staff.

  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) in French. Knowledge of English is required to facilitate collaboration with our internal teams outside Quebec or with our clients.

  • A valid driver's license is required.

Your keys to success

  • Master's degree in science or engineering.

  • Experience in quantification, verification, and mitigation of industrial releases (water, air, GHG).

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
