Stantec is seeking a full time entry level Geotechnical Engineering Technicians to assist with all aspects of operations associated with our Geotechnical group located in Lexington, Kentucky.

Your Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Testing of soils, concrete, rock and construction materials.

  • Interact routinely with Client Representatives, Contractors, and Geotechnical Engineers.

  • Operate computerized and digital testing equipment.

  • Construction Quality Assurance of installed geosynthetic materials.

  • Monitoring of geotechnical instrumentation.

  • Field data collection.

  • Inspects and reviews projects during construction, monitoring conformance with plans, specifications, and other codes and regulations.

  • Monitors the progress of construction activities, ensuring cost, schedule and quality standards are met.

  • Prepares daily reports of construction progress.

  • Provides the Project Manager with updates on project progress or delays to client, design professionals, and/or contractor.

  • Inspects installation and placement of process/mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, process piping and balance of plant construction commodities.

  • This position will require both field and laboratory work, and does require the ability to travel regionally with overnight stays.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • A pre-employment drug screen may also be required.

  • Proficient with desktop office software applications (word processor, spreadsheets, etc.).

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Personal attributes include:

    • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
    • Self-starter/motivated.
    • Willingness to learn on the job.
    • Positive attitude.
    • Ability to work with a team on large complex project.
    • Able to work under and meet tight deadlines.
    • Working understanding of policies and procedures for Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) protection, including client-specific training (as required).

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent, Bachelor of Science in related field preferred.

  • Experience with laboratory and field construction activities is a plus.

  • Interested candidates should have (or have the ability to obtain) certifications related to the position (ACI, Troxler, NICET etc.).

  • A valid driver's license and good driving record are required.

  • Experience with ASTM standards is a plus.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
