Stantec’s Belgium office is the seat of the International Division unit. We provide management support to international institutions, such as the European Commission (EC), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and EU bilateral donors. We combine the perfect mix between the expertise of providing sustainable solutions to development challenges mainly in developing countries, and the knowledge renewable energy and energy efficiency.

We are currently seeking to recruit a full-time Junior Project Manager to enhance our Project Management team and to join our international and dynamic Belgian unit.

Your role

You will be in charge of the management of EU - external aid funded contracts in the field of environment, climate change, energy, digitalization, communication. You will be required to demonstrate a combination of discipline, flexibility, and precision in all tasks to ensure that Stantec achieves successful project delivery, i.e., the project is delivered to the client in accordance with the contract obligations on time, to cost and of suitable quality.

The role requires both thematic knowledge and excellent project management skills including financial management of multi-million budgets. The role will also require someone with the willingness to deliver expertise on projects as short-term consultant.

Responsibilities

You will join the expanding project management team and take the responsibility of managing some important projects within our portfolio of projects. The Project Manager (PM) role is a key role in maximizing the performance of the Business and is focused on:

• Business discipline – to ensure that projects under their control are effectively monitored and managed on time, costs and delivered to the required technical standard and quality.

• Client relationship management – to build valued and long-lasting relationships with clients which makes them advocates for your service and that of Stantec.

• Implementation of the projects: planning of the activities, mobilization of the experts, day to day follow-up of the activities both on the technical and the financial aspects.

• Liaising with client, beneficiaries, partners, external consultants, and sub-contractors.

• Financial monitoring and reporting of project’s activities, following Stantec internal policies of project management and compliance.

• Supervise backstopping team and activities.

• Support business development teams for project budgeting.

• Recruit short term experts, prepare contracts and ensure contractual obligations are respected.

• Quality control project outputs and ensure timely delivery to the client.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have the following qualifications and skills:

• Relevant degree and minimum of 2 years of experience in managing international projects.

• Excellent understanding of EU institutions and contractual procedures.

• Knowledge about commercial aspects of managing projects in consultancy business.

• Planning and management of budgets, schedules & scope.

• Advanced level in Excel.

• Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.

• Responsibility, punctual delivery and ownership of tasks and assignments, with a focus on quality.

• Fluent in French and English, both written and oral.

The candidate should also be willing and available to occasionally carry out missions abroad, including in developing countries, of a duration from a few days to two weeks.
