Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists for a highly motivated individual to become the Natural Resources Program Leader for the Gulf Coast Region (Location: Georgia) and support the national initiatives across the US and Canada. Reporting directly to the Regional Sales Leader, Environmental Services. This new position is responsible for growing the natural resources team across the region, leading business development activities and accountable for sustaining and growing the net revenue of the Environmental Business Centers pertaining to the Natural Resource Business. The Environmental Business includes the following Sectors: Oil & Gas, Power, Commercial/Manufacturing, Infrastructure/Transportation, Mining and Federal. The Program Leader will primary focus is on growing teams across the region and provide technical leadership for strategic projects for Environmental Services business; working collaboratively with the Energy, Community Development, and Water Business Lines in client development to strengthen client relationships that are beneficial to Stantec and find new opportunities with these clients; support sales for procurements on strategic opportunities; provide proposal management; and lead profitable growth of our Environmental Services Business.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience providing permitting (including agency coordination) with the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and state agencies in the region (for example, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Mississippi, and Kentucky) and across the US, wetland delineation and/or mitigation, due diligence, project management and technical service in water/water quality, impact assessments, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), listed species etc. Types of projects may include but are not limited to: natural gas pipelines, Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) facilities, solar facilities, other energy-related projects, mitigation/conservation banking, water resources, roadways, and residential and commercial permitting. In addition, this candidate will be responsible for managing major projects, leading project teams, and sponsoring individual projects across the region. The Regional Leader will be responsible for growth of the Natural Resource business and develop technical teams in region to support project work.

Your Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Consistently demonstrates a commitment to the Health and Safety culture within the BC and Stantec.

  • Grow natural resource teams in geographic areas across the region and develops a robust, profitable, and risk-smart natural resource business in the Gulf Region for Environmental Services.

  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership of the business.

  • Create the delivery platform that thrills clients through a strong focus on improved project performance– people, processes, culture and deepen capabilities in consulting, designing, and sustaining services.

  • Collaborate with other National, Regional and Sector Leaders to grow the Environmental Services Business in NA.

  • Increase our capabilities with experienced project managers and SMEs.

  • Manage key client relationships.

  • Provide sales and proposals management.

  • Create and support strategic project management.

  • Effectively lead, challenge and inspire staff to work together by being a visible leader of our Environmental Services business and being accessible to our staff.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Qualifications:

  • Strong client base and understanding of the Environmental Services consulting and engineering business and global Environmental Services business.

  • Entrepreneurial orientation with understanding of the business management challenges of a consulting services provider.

  • Significant experience building and maintaining productive relationships with a client base.

  • Proven ability to identify, recruit and hire technical staff to meet project needs and foster a team environment to work together cohesively as a team.

  • Demonstrated ability to champion both technical and customer service excellence with conviction and purpose.

  • Proven project management and technical skills applicable to the delivery of Environmental Services projects.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet multiple and varied deadlines.

  • Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills.

  • Possess the highest degree of integrity.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in environmental science, biological resources or closely related field required.

  • Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS), Certified Wildlife Biologist (CWB) or Professional Certified Ecologist (CE), or Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner (CERP), Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) preferred but not required.

  • Minimum 15 years of progressively responsible experience with technical specialization and expertise in the environmental compliance, natural resource assessments and studies, and permitting.

  • Experience in managing and providing environmental consulting services to project developers in support of project siting, design, and permit applications is essential.

  • Local, state, and Federal compliance and environmental permitting experience required.

  • Strong written and oral communication.

  • Positive, flexible, & team-oriented approach.

  • Self-motivated and strong initiative.

  • Detail oriented, resourceful

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
