Your Opportunity

This Commercial Risk Manager position specializes in the commercial management of projects delivered through alternative delivery models, such as design-build, progressive design-build, P3, Alliance and Integrated Project Delivery and will be part of Stantec’s Commercial Risk Governance group.

The Commercial Risk Manager will work directly as part of Project teams and will also support the Director of Commercial Risk Governance on corporate initiatives. This is a great opportunity for professionals with strong technical and commercial acumen.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for profitable management of Projects, which includes management of subconsultants, finances, schedule, change orders, and the contract

  • Actively engage in contract negotiation with the client and subconsultants

  • Day-to-day leadership, guidance and support to Project teams to proactively identify and manage risks

  • Lead and/or participate in the negotiation and resolution of commercial issues with the client and subconsultants

  • Lead development of formal Project documentation, such as notices and responses to claims and disputes

  • Apply good commercial practices and guidance to minimize the frequency and impact of issues and disputes

  • Support the Director of Commercial Risk Governance with development of Project resources, templates and reference materials

  • Build and strengthen relationships with Project teams by cultivating a deep understanding of Stantec’s business and being proactive in improving risk management practices for Stantec’s Projects

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Proactive, can-do, and collaborative attitude is a must

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with teams while seamlessly transitioning to a leadership role as necessary

  • Skilled negotiator

  • High attention to detail with strong writing and analytical skills

  • Solutions-oriented in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities

  • Strong contractual and technical knowledge

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, architecture, business or other related field

  • 10 to 15 years experience as project manager or commercial manager on projects with construction value greater than $200M

  • Relevant APD experience is a must
