Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Engineer to participate in mine reclamation and design projects in the western United States. The primary focus of this position is to provide engineering leadership and mine closure construction quality program direction as part of a skilled and qualified team. This position will require:

  • A dynamic detail oriented, critical thinker who is driven by innovation and technology-based solutions to transform designs into real world construction for the mining industry.

  • Curiosity and creativity to help contribute to the success of multi-year design and reclamation projects at large mines.

  • Proven abilities as an independent decision maker who is driven to solve problems.

  • Excellent communication skills to direct the technical aspects of the field team and coordinate with clients.

  • Apply experience working on civil and/or geotechnical engineering projects, focusing on detailed design, site investigation, construction quality assurance (CQA), Construction management/dispute resolution, technical communication, survey, and material handling.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering leadership for a large mine closure project in northern New Mexico.

  • Provide technical leadership pertaining to survey verification, material sampling, and field testing.

  • Use industry standard tools, like AutoCAD Civil 3D, to visualize, analyze and communicate design requirements and adjustments.

  • Review construction quality control and CQA data and determine if the work meets the design.

  • Plan for upcoming work, staffing, and equipment needs.

  • Drive technical teams to produce quality work, resolve issues, and exceed client expectations.

  • Drive safety planning, awareness, and solutions

  • Coordinate with client and other site business partners including design engineer, construction contractor, quality control, and site maintenance.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Exceptional technical writing and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, technical leadership abilities, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in the field at remote sites.

  • Dynamic time management to meet project budget and schedule.

  • Willingness to travel to the western U.S. up to one week per month.

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training certificate is preferred or the ability to obtain after employment.

  • MSHA 40-hour certificate is preferred or the ability to obtain after employment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Must have a good driving record and valid Driver's License.

  • Licensed as a professional engineer in the State of New Mexico or able to obtain within 6 months.

  • Ability to work at an active construction site at an elevation of 10,000 feet above sea level.

  • Capability to carry heavy (up to 50 lbs.) and awkward equipment across uneven terrain.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum B.S. in engineering (i.e., Civil, Geotechnical, Mining, Environmental).

  • 8-10 years of experience working on civil and/or geotechnical engineering projects, focusing on detailed design, site investigation, CQA, Construction management/dispute resolution, technical communication, survey, and material handling

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • $108,000 - $162,000 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
