Your Opportunity

Join our transportation and community development team as a senior engineer on local agency roadway and site civil design projects. Your experience and leadership will drive the project delivery overseeing QA/QC, implementing lessons learned, and mentoring a talented team of engineers and technicians. You will deploy all skillsets including roadway and drainage design principles providing creative solutions to unique sites and civic challenges. The projects that a Senior Civil Engineer may be assigned to may have complex features that will require the application of mature knowledge. This role also leads the analysis of proposed projects to ensure structural reliability, resource efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

This position is open to part time or casual status.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and mentorship of engineering team

  • Prepare drainage calculations and applicable reports

  • Lead development, produce, and QA/QC of plans, specifications, and estimates

  • Participate in coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, subcontractors, and vendors

  • Interface with clients and support development of relationships

  • Support project manager with related duties including development of scopes of work, level of effort estimates, and invoice preparation

  • Lead design functions, such as site planning, roads, drainage, grading, water systems, sanitary sewer systems and other municipal and private sector infrastructures

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Familiarity with plan approval and permitting in local agencies throughout the front range

  • Have strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or ability to learn within 6 months

  • Experience with public and private sector clients and projects

  • General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications

  • Experience in engineering design, construction inspection, contract administration, and project management

  • Ability to prepare grading, utility, and roadway plans

  • Ability to prepare calculations for storm drain, water systems, and develop earth quantities balancing a site

  • Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies

  • Thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting, and efficient use of time and resources

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal abilities and willingness to work in a team atmosphere

  • Have in-depth knowledge of critical issues and lessons learned to mitigate errors and maintain project efficiencies

  • Known for sustaining long-term client relationships

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in CO

  • 15 years experience in the design of civil infrastructure including roadway and intersection design
