Your Opportunity

Management and Technology Consulting (MTC) is Stantec’s industry leading management consulting team, recognized in providing asset and organizational performance, financial, economic, funding, planning, as well as business and operational technology consulting services to communities and utilities across North America. We partner with our clients to tackle complex problems and design fit-for-purpose solutions that address their unique needs. The MTC team is also responsible for the business development and delivery of innovative digital related work and consulting services embedded in broader engineering/infrastructure projects and stand-alone projects. We are seeking a candidate in the US Mountain region to provide leadership, delivery of strategic projects, and to drive growth of our asset management, digital solution, organization performance, and strategic planning service offerings across multiple industries.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with clients and potential clients to understand their needs and problems and apply MTC solutions, solution history, and personal solution history to help Stantec grow.

  • Lead and engage in the delivery of strategic asset management and organization performance projects, ensuring delivery of high-quality services on time and within budget.

  • Work closely with regional leadership to identify and create/incubate opportunities for this offering across the region and across multiple business lines.

  • Support business development for the MTC team and support business development in other geographies. Lead business development strategies/activities for asset management, organizational performance, digital solutions, and other related services.

  • Recruit, mentor, train, develop, and deploy technical talent.

  • Work dynamically with project teams to identify best-fit solutions to business, strategic, infrastructure, and operational issues, that involve elevated risk/complexity.

  • Engage in the strategic planning of the MTC team, focused on asset management, organizational performance, and digital solutions business plans.

  • Maintain and grow client relationships and lead and/or engage in responses to client requests, RFQs, and RFPs.

  • Maintain knowledge of water asset management, operational, and technology industry trends.

  • Serve as an independent reviewer of analysis prepared by peers or junior staff to ensure technical accuracy and appropriateness of methods and tools used and solutions evaluated.

  • Meet performance goals and objectives as assigned, with respect to client-specific demands, stated delivery milestones, quality standards, project management framework, mentoring of junior staff, and all required training activities.

  • Responsibilities for Regional ONE WATER as part of the Water Resources Sector within the Water Business Operating Unit. The ONE WATER responsibilities, which is approximately 30% of the time, will be done in close conduct and research with the Institute of Policy:

    • Work in collaboration with Project Delivery teams to integrate ONE WATER into project delivery.
    • Provide leadership and guidance for standard methods and best practices in implementing the ONE WATER paradigm into projects delivering solutions in water resources associated with water supply, water treatment, wastewater treatment, stormwater management, industrial process water, agricultural water, water reuse, and water environment ecology (groundwater and surface water bodies).
    • Provide leadership and guidance for piloting ONE WATER approaches at the agency level.
    • Work in collaboration with the Stantec’s national marketing team to identify, position and pursue corporately strategic opportunities in the ONE WATER space within the regional geography of focus—Southwestern US as priority—and elsewhere.
    • Build the Stantec brand by championing Stantec’s ONE WATER practice at regional and national technical conferences.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in asset management and supporting asset management programs as well as related areas, such as strategic planning, organizational performance, and digital solutions.

  • Strong network of active client contacts and relationships.

  • Ability to manage and deliver complex assignments that require the application of broad knowledge with a high degree of initiative and independence.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office 365 suite of tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro and other business systems required.

  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.

  • Capable of presenting/sharing analyses in an interactive work setting while being able to adjust in a live setting.

  • Self-starter capable of efficiently and proactively working independently as well as with a geographically dispersed team on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong sense of Team. Always willing to step in and take on additional responsibility for the good of the entire Team.

  • Ability to recommend and implement changes to policies and establish procedures. Provides input to the annual performance process and career development goals of team members.

  • Strong attention to details, as MTC deliverables are open to public review and scrutiny.

  • Experience and ability to work across disciplines.

  • Experience leading teams on projects greater $10M in revenue.

  • 10 years of direct management and supervision responsibilities.

  • Experience with AM standards, practices & applicable legislation, such as ISO 55000, IAM, IIMM

  • Beneficial to have certification or background in IAM, Certified Reliability Leader (CRL) as well as other equivalent programs such as CRE (ASQ) or CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professionals) through SMRP (Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals).

  • Beneficial to have certification or background in Prosci change management or other equivalent change management methods.

  • Beneficial to have experience with project management and PMP certification.

Education and Experience

  • B.S. in Engineering with a preference for Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer/Information Science, Civil, or Environmental Or Operations Management. MBA or MPA is preferred.

  • 15 plus years industry experience in asset management [water infrastructure industry (or other utility industry) either in building, design, or operations]

Office Location & Working Conditions

Typical office environment working with computers. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Willing to travel as needed; mostly regional. Travel may be 20 to 40%. Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record are required.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • $148,100 - $229,500 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
