Stantec is seeking dynamic and creative candidates to join our US West Team as an environmental or civil or geological engineer. This position requires a detail-oriented individual, preferably with a strong background in environmental engineering, surface water, groundwater and/or soil remediation, and mine reclamation and familiar with site assessment for potential contaminants. The candidate will be responsible for supporting remediation activities (conceptual to closure) for mining and industrial operations and facilities (i.e., impacted groundwater and surface water, cover design, etc.). The candidate will develop work plans, provide logistical support for field operations, analyze resultant data, and prepare detailed technical reports. The candidate also will provide technical advice and analyses, support design, prepare design plan sets/specifications, and provide construction support, as necessary.
This position will require a passionate, dedicated, and organized individual who can interface and develop relationships with our clients; develop and lead teams; develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules; develop and lead site investigations and characterization; develop detailed designs; execute and review calculations; and prepare expertly written reports. This position interacts throughout the organization internally and externally with clients, regulators, and members of business and professional organizations. An ideal candidate will have a broad range of experience in investigation, planning, design, and construction-phase services.
Your Key Responsibilities
Follow safe work practices and adhering to company and client guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
Support management of a project through task, budget, and schedule management of a broad array of concurrent tasks.
Lead technical teams, perform technical work, make technical presentations, plan technical portions of projects, develop technical portions of proposals, and provide technical review of work products.
Develop, oversee, and review field and laboratory testing investigations.
Prepare technical memoranda and detailed reports pertaining to field investigations, design studies, and construction activities.
Contribute to an innovative and collaborative work environment where creativity is valued and encouraged.
Lead by example with active support of internal policies and practices, including risk management, project management, and quality management.
Grow internal and external networks to enhance Stantec reputation and identify additional talent to join our team.
Promote collaboration and teamwork across business lines and geographies.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Exceptional technical writing skills, organizational skills, technical leadership abilities, oral communication skills, and attention to detail.
Proven experience in mining and/or industrial sectors.
Ability to work independently and make decisions in the office and in the field at remote sites.
Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, including defining and setting the direction for a team, project, and office; strategy development; change management; and corporate stewardship.
Demonstrated successful experience to initiate and maintain relationships with local staff and key staff from other, remote locations.
Demonstrated successful experience in client service management, including the ability to interface with clients and to build and maintain lasting, positive relationships.
Previous consultative work experience in site investigation, surface water, groundwater and soil remediation, and mine reclamation/closure including design and construction is highly desirable.
Experience with CERCLA process is highly desirable.
Education and Experience
7-15 years of relevant experience in environmental, civil, geological engineering, or similar field
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, or Geological Engineering
Professional registration preferred
Valid driver’s license
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
