Your Opportunity

We have an immediate opening for an entry level Team Assistant to work as part of our Bridge Inspection Team located in Denver, Colorado. This position will entail being an assistant for in-service bridge and tunnel inspections throughout Colorado and the United States. You will be responsible for entry level duties including assisting our Bridge Inspection Team Leaders to perform inspections in the field, entry of inventory and element level data in AASHTOWare Bridge Management (BrM) and/or other management software, entry of data into Microsoft Word/Excel/Access, development of structural drawings utilizing CAD, and assembly of reports and other documents. Out of town travel for inspections will average approximately two weeks a month but may be longer at times.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting our Bridge Inspection Team Leaders and Structural Engineers to perform inspections in the field and office tasks as designated

  • Entry of inventory and element level data in AASHTOWare Bridge Management (BrM) and/or other structure management software

  • Entry of data into Microsoft Word/Excel/Access, development of structural drawings utilizing CAD, and assembly of reports and other documents

  • Completion of load ratings on bridges, tunnels, overhead signs, and culverts per AASHTO and DOT standards

  • Other inspection tasks and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Civil or Structural Engineer who has passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam

  • Familiarity with structural systems, members, and forces

  • Knowledge of material deterioration of concrete, steel, and timber

  • Experienced in common computer applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Access) along with experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation

  • Skills regarding the management of large data sets, knowledge of database structures, Microsoft Access Database development, VBA, XML, & C Languages is a plus

  • Familiarity with the requirements of the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS)

  • Be a detailed oriented and highly organized individual that can demonstrate initiative and commitment to a final professional product

  • Self-motivated team partner with excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to travel in/out of state approximately two weeks or more each month

  • Works well in a team environment in both field and office assignments with the ability to adapt to changing work environments

  • Must have proof of valid and unrestricted driver's license

  • Prior to employment this position will require the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering with EIT / FE certification.

  • Two years of experience preferred. Previous co-op/Internship experience also preferred.

Position will require work in an office and in a field setting up to 50% of the time. Typical office environment includes working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • $69,600 - $97,500 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
