Stantec provides ecosystem restoration services to our clients throughout the United States. Our ecosystem restoration team provides a full range of services including site assessment and restoration planning, invasive species mapping and control, GIS analysis and data management, native seed and plant installation, erosion and sediment control, site stewardship, and adaptive vegetation management. Our team is supported by local botanists, wildlife and wetland ecologists, soil scientists, civil/water resources engineers, GIS technicians, and health and safety professionals. We focus on ecosystem restoration as a core business area because we believe in the importance of preserving and restoring high quality natural areas.
Stantec is seeking an exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individual with a keen interest and experience in ecosystem and watershed restoration. Your role will be to lead development and delivery of ecosystem and watershed restoration projects in Wisconsin with a focus on the eastern Wisconsin region. In this role, you will support business development opportunities, provide project management, contracting, project implementation, and support staff training and development.

Your Key Responsibilities
Project Management responsibilities include:
Manage multiple ecosystem restoration tasks and projects according to an established project management best practice framework.
Identify appropriate resources and skill sets to achieve project/task order objectives.
Prepare cost estimates and contracts.
Lead a multi-disciplined team that may include a broad range of technical disciplines such as civil/water resources engineers, landscape architects, ecologists/biologists, ecosystem restoration technicians, planners, GIS specialists and others.
Frequently interact and interface with clients, agencies, and other project stakeholders.
Ecological and Watershed Restoration responsibilities include:
Conduct field work to support development of watershed and ecological restoration projects.
Develop or management development of concepts to restore impaired ecosystems and watersheds, including but not limited to vegetation management, green infrastructure, wildlife habitat, hydrology and streams, stormwater and water quality, land use, and soils.
Prepare site planning documents and other technical reports.
Prepare restoration design plans and specifications.
Work with Restoration Ecologists and Ecosystem Restoration Technicians to develop project and task plans to implement and manage designs.
Track current and emerging technical initiatives with a focus on creativity and innovation.
Conduct peer reviews of work products and quality control reviews.
Mentor junior staff.
Participating in Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all office and field work.
Business Development responsibilities include:
Assist with identifying and managing ecological consulting and restoration pursuits.
Develop project opportunities and proposals.
Assist with identifying grant opportunities and with grant writing.
Assist marketing staff with development of marketing support materials.
Network in related events, such as nonprofit organizations, conferences, and various working groups.
Support in development of annual business development and operating budgets.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Strong knowledge of the ecology and watersheds of the upper Midwest.
Strong foundation in ecosystem restoration principles for applications in natural and built environments
Experience planning and implementing ecosystem restoration projects.
Advanced skills in technical and grant writing.
Ability to provide written and verbal direction to deliver projects.
Experience managing multiple projects and tasks concurrently.
Disciplined approach to project execution and technical excellence.
Experience planning watershed improvements projects.
Coach, mentor, and engage team members.
Strong work ethic, leadership, high ethical standards, and a desire for team success.
Champion new ideas and initiatives and creates an environment that supports creativity and innovation.

Business development and networking experience.
Willingness and ability to travel and participate in evening or weekend events.
Good driving record and valid driver’s license required.
Proficient in and consistently demonstrates and promotes policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training (if applicable).
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
Education and Experience
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or related field.
Minimum 7 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education (e.g., advanced degree) and experience.
