We are looking for a talented Civil Engineer – Water Resources who wants to be part of a purpose-driven organization that’s focused on helping our clients, colleagues, and communities. We are seeking a professional engineer to work on a variety of water resources projects including, but not limited to stream, wetland, and coastal restoration and watershed studies and to join the top ecosystem restoration firm in North America.

Stantec’s Cincinnati, OH office is a hub for Water Resource projects. Our work includes a large and diverse sector of client types, geography settings and service offerings. Our teams deal with converging impacts of climate change, aging infrastructure, and expanded development. Balancing mitigation, development needs, and community demands is no simple task. We work on Large Scale water resource projects across North America and local projects in the region. With expertise in heavy civil planning and design, flood control, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, natural surface water systems and ecosystem restoration and nature-based solutions our team is committed to supporting projects that address the greatest infrastructure needs our communities face today.

This position will be based in Cincinnati, OH and is eligible for relocation assistance.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform broad, varied, and diverse engineering design tasks on assigned projects under general supervision of task lead or project manager, including detailed design, construction drawing development, engineering report writing, and regulatory and permit agency coordination.

  • Engage in the design of civil and/or river restoration projects in various phases including planning, design, construction, and dam removals.

  • Assist project managers with developing and managing the project scope including fee estimates, financial management, staffing and schedule.

  • Assist the task manager in preparing conceptual, preliminary, and final design work products for various project types and participate in client meetings. Project types include:

  • Watershed master planning.

  • Geomorphic assessments.

  • Stormwater BMPs for TMDLs.

  • Stream, wetland, and coastal restoration.

  • Dam removals

  • Dredging

  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.

  • Post construction monitoring.

  • Participate in the permit process, which may require meetings with clients, contractors, and regulators.

  • Prepare portions of engineering project proposals, change orders, client contact and communication.

  • Confirm adherence to construction specifications during each phase of a project. Monitor project progress, inspect construction sites, and verify calculations and placements.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.

  • Ability to creatively apply technical knowledge.

  • Attention to detail, positive attitude, desire to support team success, and ability to function well in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience developing construction documents (drawings, technical specification, opinions of probable construction cost).

  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D tools including grading, corridors, and network development.

  • Experience with ArcGIS or other Geographic Information Systems software.

  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic analysis (HEC-HMS,HEC-RAS, PCSWMM, HY-8)

  • Rosgen training and familiarity with the RIVERMorph software a plus.

Education and Experience

  • Education: Minimum of bachelor’s degree Engineering with an emphasis in Civil Engineering.

  • Experience: With a minimum of five years of related work experience in civil engineering design, with an emphasis on water resource projects (dams, levees, flood control structures, stormwater management, green infrastructure, and/or river restoration)

  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license in State of Ohio required or ability to obtain within one year of start.
