Your Opportunity

As an Intern for Fall/Winter 2024 based in our Cleveland, OH office, you will work in a team environment and have exposure to a variety of water related projects. Our projects involve drinking water and wastewater treatment and conveyance, wet weather flow management and treatment, flood protection and risk reduction, stream restoration, and other aspects of civil and environmental engineering. This role will support our local design staff collecting and organizing data, preparing calculations, preparing charts and graphs, modeling using Excel or hydraulic modeling software, preparing drawings, backcheck drawing/technical memoranda corrections, writing portions of technical memoranda, researching technical information, proposal and resume writing, client interactions, presentations, note taking, field investigations, coordinating production of reports, and/or support of design documents (plans and specifications).

Candidates should be highly motivated and dependable students who are taking or have taken water/wastewater treatment courses, water resources courses, hydraulics courses, and other civil/environmental engineering courses. This is a terrific opportunity for a college student to support a number of exciting local and national projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Candidate will assist engineering and administrative staff with such tasks as:

  • Preparing spreadsheets, graphs, and figures for design reports

  • Pump and equipment sizing using industry software and internal tools

  • Preparing design and construction plans in AutoCAD Civil3D and Revit, specifications, quantity take-offs and construction estimates

  • Supporting construction phase projects with equipment submittal reviews

  • Data processing and management using GIS to support hydrologic and hydraulic modeling

  • Assisting with field work for data collection, site inspections and observations

  • Building surface models in AutoCAD Civil3D

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Must have good organizational skills, be reliable, detail orientated and capable of working independently on assigned tasks

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction

  • Exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, and ArcMap/GIS a plus

  • Exposure to H&H software applications including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM a plus

Education and Experience

  • Must be a college student candidate for Civil and/or Environmental Engineering degree or other technical discipline

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Previous internship or co-op experience a plus

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
