Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Transportation group in Clearwater, Florida has a need for a Civil Engineer-EIT with an interest in roadway and highway, bicycle/pedestrian, and civil/site design. Our Transportation group provides our clients with comprehensive planning, design, and engineering services for all phases of roadway and airport projects. Your Key Responsibilities

  • Supports project team in development of design documentation, plans, and reports for relevant project design elements.

  • Design and produce construction plans for transportation projects.

  • Assist in engineering evaluations to increase safety and reduce project costs.

  • Assist in hydrologic & hydraulic modeling.

  • Perform design calculations.

  • Prepare project-related reports and documentation.

  • Assist in responses to RFI’s and shop drawing reviews during construction.

  • Provide assistance to the Project Managers on general project tasks.

  • Design support for marketing efforts of project pursuits.

  • Performs quality reviews for documents in various project phases including construction plans, reviewing agency submittal packages, and engineering calculation reports.

  • Attends project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.

  • Coordinate with other disciplines, such as environmental, traffic, landscape and structural.

  • Prepares and coordinates submittals to permitting entities

  • Assists in the review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to request for information, prepares site observation reports, and performs other construction administration tasks.

  • Participates in value engineering and basic cost estimating.

  • Conducts field assessments and site inspections as needed


Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Self-starter with diligent work ethic and strong attention to detail

  • EI License is preferred. Desire to acquire PE license is preferred

  • Effective communication skills and ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought

  • Ability to visualize three-dimensional concepts and layouts from diagrams or drawings

  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and willingness to learn relevant software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, StormCAD, WaterCAD, etc.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering

  • 2 years civil engineering experience

  • Experience in roadway, stormwater design, and utilities design. Desire for a Transportation engineering career.

  • EIT license is preferred, and desire to pursue PE license is preferred

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
