Your Opportunity

Stantec has an immediate need for a talented entry-level, team focused Bridge Engineer. This position is for an individual who is looking to challenge themselves professionally on a variety of transportation projects. You will have the opportunity to learn, work on exciting and multi-faceted projects, and grow your career. This position is located in either the Charleston, WV, or Bridgeport, WV office. We are looking for a Structural Bridge Engineer who excels in working in a team environment and has a passion for the work that they do. The successful candidate will join a growing team of transportation professionals and contribute to the design component of roadway and bridge projects throughout West Virginia.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • The majority of work will include bridge projects for departments of transportation and municipalities in West Virginia and surrounding states

  • Key duties include assisting with the preparation of plans, specifications, and design calculations for DOT and Municipal clients

  • Tasks would include but not be limited to performing site visits, bridge analysis, design and geometry calculations, and developing drawings

  • The position also entails preparing engineering reports and technical studies, and assisting on other projects, as needed, including participation in roadway and site civil design activities

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience with WVDOH preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite

  • Prior consulting experience and established client and agency contacts are desirable

  • Strong client interaction and relationship skills with the ability to communicate well

  • Bridge load rating experience preferred

  • A working knowledge of MicroStation is preferred

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering

  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire

  • Bridge engineering & design experience is desired

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

The candidate should be willing to come into the office on a full-time basis until the candidate demonstrates the ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote setting.
